I just saw an amazing video by who told the story behind his -based and the journey so far.

If he'd spoken to me a while back, I could have spared him lots of dead ends. 😜

He also evaluated and he found https://en.eagle.cool/

His preferences are different to mine. I'd never go with sidecar files, one interface only nor with a database.

I love my concept as it is: https://karl-voit.at/managing-digital-photographs/

Dites moi les gens qui utilisent les favoris dans ET qui y mett(ai)ent des étiquettes (). Avez-vous vu disparaitre l'interface qui permet, justement, de mettre ces étiquettes ?

@lovisix@social.zdx.fr avatar

@vinyd

I blogged about my experience yesterday: https://karl-voit.at/2024/04/28/bcg24/

Topics covered:

  • Stop Reading the (?)
  • How to Use
  • Stop Using Twitter/Insta/... (together with @Heinz ) !
  • Can We Differ Between AI Images and Real Images (by Tiny)
  • Alles Textaufgaben - Neue Content-Workflows mit KI (by Sascha Stoltenow)

It was a great event! 👍

As for social media coverage, this is not a Mastodon-event yet. 😔

My method using 🏷️ is so much more than just a fine solution for . You'll see that it actually addresses many aspects of working with local files in general:

@publicvoit wait, is it compatible with denote?

publicvoit,
@publicvoit@graz.social avatar

@mms Not without re-writing my scripts.

denote is cool but has made different (and IMHO suboptimal) naming conventions.

So I'd rather welcome a way of changing denote's file naming scheme.

However, I'd say that you have plenty of room beneath denote files. I do manage lots of files with my method but my Org-mode data is not part of it.

I describe how it's working and why you will not use it on https://karl-voit.at/2019/11/26/Tagging-Files-With-Windows-10/

It's a fun story to read about how fu**ed up this great idea with their weird implementation.

Hello!

I've started using (software) to finally address the sea of post-it notes and uncatalogued paper in my life.

I already know about and and also these Community Plugins:

  • Calender
  • Dataview
  • ExcaliBrain *
  • ExcaliDraw *
  • Leaflet
  • Novel Word Count

Do you have any tips / suggestions / Plugins for an Obsidian newbie?

[* These two seem advanced, going to graduate up to properly utilizing them later for now trying to keep it simple]

A friendly reminder that hashtags are a thing.

If you want your fediverse posts to be seen by more people interested in their subjects, or you want to find and talk to more people interested in the subjects you post about, hashtags are your friend. You can add them after the body of your posts, or words in the post itself.

I updated the rule two of my article "How to Use " https://karl-voit.at/2022/01/29/How-to-Use-Tags/ 🏷️

In certain situations, a large number of tags in the controlled vocabulary are not a bad thing at all if you still limit the number of tags for each file/entity in general.
