"In the US, minimum width standards of parking spaces usually range from 8.5 to 9.0 feet... (and due to larger US vehicle sizes) most #parking spaces will be within 16 to 20 feet (4.9–6.1 m), with 19 feet (5.8 m) feet deep being the standard DOT recommended depth for standard perpendicular parking."
The #Ford F150 is 19.3 feet long and 8 feet wide. It's been the best-selling US vehicle for for decades, only recently eclipsed in this country by the #Toyota RAV4.
This is a much better look at the nonsense announcement from #Toyota that their #hydrogen combustion engine will make #ElectricVehicles obsolete.
Even if somebody miraculously created a network of hydrogen filling stations, the engine is far less efficient. In reality, hydrogen is just a way for fossil fuel companies to keep selling their products. Only now it is reformed into hydrogen.
#TOKYO (AP) — All 28 vehicle assembly lines at #Toyota’s 14 auto plants in #Japan shut down Tuesday over a problem in its computer system that deals with incoming auto parts.
The automaker doesn’t believe the problem was caused by a #cyberattack but the cause is still under investigation.
Computerproblem führt zu Stillstand in Japans Toyota-Fabriken
Wegen eines Computerproblems stehen beim Autohersteller Toyota in Japan alle Bänder still. Der Fehler betrifft ein System, das für eingehende Autoteile zuständig ist. Von einer Cyberattacke geht das Unternehmen nicht aus.
“… an electric vehicle [the Tesla Model Y hatchback] had become the biggest-selling car in the world, outselling the Toyota Corolla.”
Well, they must have been selling it everywhere else but here, because I’ve never seen one. Mind you, I haven’t seen a Toyota Corolla for a long time either…
Three videos in less than a week. Two claiming #Toyota will have fantastic battery tech and AI optimizations that will give their BEVs amazing range and one stating their hydrogen strategy will make EVs obsolete.
I watched the hydrogen one and it is laughable. It actually ends by saying hydrogen engines, being mechanical like gas engines, will be easier to repair than EVs.
#JohnNaughton asks, in The #Guardian, if #Tesla is doing to the car industry what #Apple did to #Nokia. There are several errors in the article (the Tesla Roadster was based on a #Lotus#Elise, not Elite, and the #Toyota#bZ4x is not cheaper than a Tesla. Which is precisely the problem traditional car manufacturers are facing. They can’t build #EVs cheap enough. Even worse, some (like #Ford and @VWGroup) are actually cutting back investment!
Kenworth’s FCEV combines Toyota’s hydrogen fuel cell stack with the T680
Hitting the market in 2025, the recently announced Kenworth T680 FCEV is the culmination of seven years that Kenworth has been collaborating with Toyota on prototype vehicles.
My '95 #Toyota#Previa#MiniVan started making some loud clunking sounds when shifting and I'm concerned I might've let the transfer case oil leak out while I was replacing the starter (that ended up not needing to be replaced but that's a different story). I drained it and the oil looked pretty brown so I reckon we haven't changed the oil in at least ten years, so it's due. Couldn't refill because the check hole plug is 1mm smaller than the drain one 😕, so I gotta go back to #HarborFreight#car
New Toyota Land Cruiser Could Get PHEV, Hydrogen, And EV Options In The Future
The new Land Cruiser has to stay on the road until 2030, and to do that, Toyota's engineers are looking into the costs and benefits of electric, PHEV, and hydrogen powertrains for the rugged off-roader
