I've been quite quiet on the running front in the last few weeks. Three weeks ago, I must have slept funnily and ended up twisting the soft tissue just below my ribs, which can take up to 6 weeks to heal from...
I feel as though I'm almost recovered, but every so often get sharp painful twinges in the morning especially. It means ultimately that I can no longer do the London Marathon this year, so have deferred to the following one.
Cambridge #HalfMarathon day. Time 3:01:37 - so v. similar to last year - running pace almost identical in fact as there were a couple of stops (Trinity’s gravel path was not my friend). One thing about the wave starts is how the majority of my club have finished when I was at ~5 km 🙃. Will be sore in training this week, then will need to prepare for a few longer practice runs on the run up to the #LondonMarathon. Had lots of positive comments on my cow leggings! #running#UkRunChat#TeamNHRR
After 16 miles yesterday, felt as though I was walking around like a zombie... longest run to date and toughest of my marathon training so far. #Running#ukrunchat#MarathonTraining
It was minus 5C / 23F, felt colder, and such a beautiful morning, I decided to slow it right, right down to enjoy the crispness more - barely more than a power walk.
Now, I am always #TeamShorts, even in such cold, as my thighs are made of asbestos and I love the feel of freezing air on bare thigh, but I did need my silly hat on to protect my small, delicate and gracefully positioned gentleman's ears.
The new mid week series starts today - instead of 7k, I’m doing a 10k every Tues and Thurs
I’m trying to find a pace which I can maintain constantly and have been experimenting. So far I have discovered too fast and too slow. Perhaps I can maintain 7min05? If that suits me, then it would lead to a marathon time of 4hrs59 (wishful thinking!)
Scotland certainly isn't perfect but being able to live in a major city and have this running terrain straight from my front door? This makes the rain worth enduring. #UKrunchat. Alt text: hills and trees
