I've decided to experiment tonight with my vegan chilli sin carne. I'm marinating jackfruit in red wine and three different chilli sauces, then roasting it before adding it to the chilli. In my mind it's going to be great, in practice? I'll let you know!
Not much to the recipe, honestly: Mix everything together with enough water to make standard flour tortilla dough (add water slowly as you mix - it may absorb less or more than all whole wheat tortillas) and cook as normal. Makes 8.
I was at a conference recently and ended up discussing vegan/WFPB food. The other person mentioned that they make oat milk using cooked oats and...it actually works! As a bonus, it's truly WFPB because no straining is required.
Cook oats
Blend with extra water (and optionally salt) to achieve desired thickness of milk
It comes out silky smooth. Just beware because oats expand a lot while cooking!
^ This spinach chapati recipe is WFPB, vegan, and most of all, healthy! It's also quite easy to make, though slightly more tedious than regular chapatis because of the additional cooking step.
It's amazing how much easier chapatis and rotis are to make than I expected. I tried it a bunch of years ago and it was a disaster, so I decided to just not try again. After we got our grain mill and our tortilla press last year, we decided to try again. After about 2 or 3 attempts, we've got it down to the point where we've been making multigrain chapatis and even made multigrain aloo parathas a week ago (messy, but worked!).
@wfpb ❓ for anyone familiar with the technique of freezing and thawing tofu before cooking: if one wanted thick slices of tofu for a sandwich, should I slice it before or after the freezing/thawing process?
Fedi, give me your best vegan (or easily veganizable) spiralizer and/or air fryer recipes! Ideally WFPB (whole foods, plant based), so no oil or refined sugar (salt is fine), but we can easily modify vegan recipes to make them WFPB (so it's nice but not necessary).
Today we are having one of our favourite desserts, a chocolate chia pudding with fruit, non-dairy yogurt & cacao nibs. This is super easy to make and I make it the night before, so the next day we have this delicious dessert ready and waiting. The fruit in the bowl is mangos, blueberries, raspberries, goji berries.
The recipe for the pudding is here: https://www.forksoverknives.com/recipes/vegan-desserts/instant-chocolate-chia-pudding-recipe/
#vegancooking#vegan#selbstgemacht#selbstgemachtesessen
