Oct 18: Do you write characters with different beliefs than yourself?

All the time! Most of my fiction is set in historical times and I try to make the past come to life and that includes ideas that I very much do not share like the misogyny and the bottom shaming.

I have very rarely sat in front of a blinking curser not being able to function.

I just write shit - and tell myself I can polish that turd later.

This approach works surprisingly well for me.

@mamelby It's the only way to go. Oftentimes starting a new project works for me too.
And this is, IMO, one of the few use cases of LLM. Sometimes just having a few lines to go off of can help getting into the flow.

@Tibor This baffles me too. BlueSky feels like a beta version which it probably is. Also you have to learn a new system to tag your posts which is the exact same as on Mastodon.

But I will say, optional algorithms are a neat idea that I think could be a valueable addition to Mastodon.

I don’t know how to feel about the situation. It certainly doesn’t decrease my disdain for Epic Games, and I’m disgusted by Songtradr’s stance of “supporting the band camp community is our top priority but let’s fire half the staff.”

But what’s the alternative? Isn’t it the only well-known music platform that doesn’t screw over musicians? Are there other places where I can launch a vinyl release for no upfront cost? Control my pricing?

Musicians need to take back this industry. how?

15: Should writers be honest about their politics online or keep quiet to avoid controversy?

As an erotica writer, I know people come to me for entertainment and escapism, so I don't post about politics on the regular. However, I will never be quiet about issues that affect adult content creators and/or LGBTQ+ people (who make up a large part of my audience). Bring on the controversy. If I get cancelled for saying kink belongs at Pride or whatever, so be it.
