Anyone here a fan of the ?
I've been thinking about what the Big Apocalypse Trilogy is going to be, and here are my thoughts:

We know the final 3 books are going to be named after the swears used in the books. Hell's Bells, Stars and Stones, and Empty Night, but we don't know what they'll be about.

I think they're going to be in the order of Hell's Bells, Empty Night, then Stars and Stones.

Book spoilers to follow

I just got about a hundred of my grandma's old recipes. Some I'm familiar with (cookie recipes). Some of them are standard Midwest dishes (fruit salad using canned fruit, jello, and cool whip).
And some of them are just too weird not to try out.
Like this pineapple casserole which uses pineapple chunks, shredded cheddar cheese, sugar, and crumbled Ritz crackers.

If a PhD is a marathon and not a sprint, I just hit my kick last week (10 hour days, crunch time to get this rocket ready to fly).
With 2.5 weeks left to go, I now get to figure out if I kicked too early or if I can finish strong.

Just tried out all the decks and here are my thoughts:

Food is great as-is. Very synergistic, lots of fun, and most powerful.
Rohan is fun, but could use a little tuning to make it run more smoothly. Éowyn is very powerful.
Saruman is unfocused and a mess, but has potential. It's got a whole bunch of bad guy cards with flavorful names.
Galadriel just spun its wheels a lot doing nothing. May be better in a 3 or 4 player game, but needs work

I'm sitting here listening to my partner play in the other room.
It's a themed campaign.
The party is 5 bards all named some version of Jim, attending an annual Bard Jim conference
Gym is a dragonborn bard-barian.
Jyme is an eternally drunk halfling.
Jimothan is an awakened rock
Jalozar Jimtheryn is the one of the two inaugural Jims
Jimenai is a goop being that fell from space onto a bard named Jim, and accidentally absorbed them.

Their quest is to find the Stolen Salt Shaker

Look what I made!

This is a Purple Worm for . They are large and scary. I'm new to and this was my first large print. It took several tries to get the print to come out because it kept coming off the build plate due to the size. Fortunately one of the failures (the second head part) turned out to be useable anyway!

Hey all you and folks who might be going to this year.
Did you know that there's an Amtrak that runs between Chicago and San Francisco and a lot of places in between?
I've taken it and it's a gorgeous trip, especially through the mountains in winter. Additionally, it's much more friendly than flying!
Let's all take the train and have a bunch of fun science cars together

I was just buying some new (used) books on Thriftbooks, and they informed me I'm at the highest rewards tier because i spend at least $150 a year with them. I had no idea i spent so much

Ya know? I'm okay with this. At an average of $5-$7 a book, that's about 25 books a year.

10/10 highly recommend Thriftbooks for all your used-book needs. Most of what they sell are retired library books. Plus i get a free $7 book every $50 spent.

Ugh. I've been reading through academic papers today at work trying to teach myself so I can start working on my new research in that field. I've read 3 papers in 7 hours and I'm nearly bouncing in my chair with boredom and frustration.
Guess this is a good time to go on a run.

Hi folks
With all the new folks signing to, remember that your server admins are volunteers and hosting isn't cheap.
If you're on mstdn.social like me, @stux is your admin and has links to help support the server. If $1 a month sounds fair, there's even a convenient Patreon so you don't have to think about it anymore

I'm a Midwest gal. I grew up in Kentucky, eating food that my mom learned to cook in Wisconsin. We didn't even use much garlic in our meals.

I'm proud to say that I went to an Indian restaurant yesterday and ordered a curry that was 6 out of 7 hot. It was goddamn delicious. Of course my eyes were watering slightly the whole time, but really excellent food.

Anyway, that's a big step for me. Mexican is still a bit spicy, but I'm also starting to develop a taste for Sichuan cuisine as well.

Watching (a perfect movie) and wishing I was as good at as Mark Knopfler.
A low bar, I know.

As a side note, the Princess Bride theme (Storybook Love) was one of the songs at our wedding. As was the Morrowind theme.

Biiiiig Rima.
My character, Rima Sahr, is a rune knight fighter. Rune Knights studied the magic of giants and have the ability to grow a size larger in combat. If you then case enlarge/reduce on them, they double in size again.
I have a 3D printer.

She's already the size of an action figure and I still need to print a huge and a gargantuan version (at 18th level I can become size huge before casting the growth spell)

Hey folks. What's the most recent card your have downloaded on your phone?

Mine's this zombie dude. I've been looking at cards I can add to my Gisa and Geralf deck to increase the variety of useful effects available.
