I have some #GenZ coworkers and was telling them about how we used to take our car stereo face plates with us when we left the car back in the days when stereos weren't integrated into the dash and you wanted a nice one.
Mom was 26 yrs old & I was 8 yrs old. In front of BC legislature. Wearing my fave red ruffle neck sweater vest, wide leg jeans; Mom let me wear her red lipstick that day. I'm unhappy about my mismatched Frankenstein orthotic boot - ppl used to stare at/make fun of them/me. It took years for me to be able to wear regular, matching boots.

What I had hoped for when creating these books. 🎨📖
My grandma would make these sugar cookies every year for Christmas. Until a couple years ago I didn't have her recipe and would try others - but none were even similar. When I got the recipe I discovered the secret was lemon zest and nutmeg!
Now I make these annually, and WOW they're difficult. She always made them thin and crispy, but you almost have to roll them out on an ice block to accomplish that. Totally worth the effort though.
My grandma has been gone a decade but with the smell of these it's like she's here again.
I explicitly said, that I wanted to have every piece of paper from the house of #grandma. My mum didn't expect that the birthday cards, grandma had received were covered by that as well. Sigh!

Stworzono ją w ramach festiwalu Up To Date w 2019 r., ale po dwóch latach w wyniku prac remontowych budynku usunięto. Today I managed to transcribe about half of a one hour recording with #grandma, where she talked about several occasions of German soldiers staying at her parents farm. Once they had eight military horses in the barn, which lead to a serious amount of liquid flowing to the pig sty below. Another time some soldiers considered it a good idea to store a wagon of anti-aircraft missiles in the barn. Grandma's dad got upset and forced them to remove it, because he was worried about airplane gunshots.
#Grandma also talked about three of her classmates still being alive. The recording is from 2018. Now I'm asking myself if it would be a good idea to reach out to them and see, if they have anything to say about her or something else from her life. But who knows how many of them made it to today and in which state they are? #genealogy
#grandma passed away yesterday. Now my plan is to transcribe our recordings during the time I would have normally visited her and to later put the stories from there to #WikiTree. For starters I had a recording of 65 minutes from January 2015 where we talk a lot about the first visit of my new girlfriend to my parents and my first visit at hers, "interrupted" by stories of grandma's poor friend and the farm kitchen without a chimney. What an awesome document of old and newer history! #genealogy
Visiting #grandma was tough again: the hearing device would only do a loud feedback noise and talking also was very tough for her because she apparently had bitten her tongue, judging the blood on her teeth. She also drank water like she hadn't for a longer time period. So I mostly just sat there for half an hour, holding her hand and watching her fall asleep every few minutes. I feel a bit sorry for not telling her a lot, but it's so tough when you have to yell every syllable in her ear.
Grandma and ram, with colored pencils. That was back a couple of years, when I wanted to write and illustrate a children's book. Then AI came along, and destroyed that market segment completely.
