Fedifriends I need your help!
For an article, I need a quote from recognisable source about how you need to know your home before you travel. If one such exists. I have the Allende about seeing with new eyes and the Pratchett about not really having been anywhere till you've gone back home, but I need a beginning. Bonus points if relatable for neurodivergent peeps. Deadline today obvs

Kate Middleton has cancer, is in hospital for chemotherapy. (Went in for routine surgery: found cancer.) https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/mar/22/kate-princess-of-wales-cancer-chemotherapy

My guess: she had fibroids, went in for a routine D&C, biopsy samples were malignant, so followup is a full hysterectomy then chemo. Probably Stage II to Stage IV if it needed the chemo. (This is exactly what happened to a family member of mine at the same age, minus the chemo—hers was caught in Stage I.)

5 year survival rate is excellent, unless it's Stage IV.

@cstross 2 family members with cancer, bad enough without having to face public, press, 'influencer' gossip etc. Awful. Chemo for aggressive breast cancer as a private individual was hard enough without all that.

26/2 Would you consider reading your own audio book?
I'll be testing the waters with a new podcast next week. Would love to hear what you all think..

01/24:
Out of all your writing, what was the hardest scene for you to write?

The hardest scene is the one I'm working on now.

All the others, in retrospect, were really easy.

20/1 Do you have a blog? Tell us about it and share a link.

I have 2 blogs. https://www.CaroleInnit.com is for my hopefully-funnies. I’m posting daily funnies this month (even when they’re dire, ropey or not funny). Would love your feedback - follow me and tell me who you are somewhere, and I'll follow you too.

The other blog, attached to my social enterprise, will mostly stay on hiatus until I’ve recovered+rebooted.

10/1 Have you ever given a talk about your work?

Yes Lots! Teaching mostly.

The new me is working on comedy travelogue solos. My pilot (not a Sharing) sold out & got gate crashed which makes me smile.

A while ago, when I should have been writing about Unlimited, a rant came out instead. Filed it with the editor's consent. Couldn't find it on publication. The mag's upbeat, my piece was not, so I assumed it got spiked for being too ranty.

Just noticed it's the opening feature! "Where are all the disabled-led organisations?" is about cognitive bias, loss aversion + glaring omissions.

  2. Duvet cover to keep cat hair off bedclothes.
  3. My bed clothes (not for cat use, and she knows it).

@AimeeMaroux Mainly this one. Before I lived in Brussels I thought his work was from his imagination. While that's true, I now understand it's a fairly accurate depiction of how the government here works
