I don't worry about extinction level events from AI. I worry about extinction level events from typos in "regular expressions".

And I'm even more impressed with

It says it has 6 fields, so it must be true!

Parallel universes are real! You shall be sent to live in one... forever.

You will get a choice between 5 universes that each have a similar collection of languages though technology & culture may be very, possibly hazardously, different.

To make your choice you may request one (1) kind of typical artifact. This will be fetched from each universe, you may compare to make your choice.

Electronics will be disabled. If the artifact doesn't exist... you get nothing.

    Does anyone out there have time to create a white History of the United States for Florida students?

    I'm serious. White History. All of the central characters for this course should be white.

    Start with how Columbus treated the Tainos -- and why he was brought back in chains in his third voyage.

    Talk about how George Washington did biological warfare against First Nations.

    Go through exactly what white people did to slaves, what cruelties from rape through murder were allowed under slavery.

    List what White people before the Civil War wrote about secession.

    After the civil war, be sure to spend time on how whites made education, land ownership, and voting nearly impossible. Give a history of the terrible things the KKK did.

    Talk about how whites refused to allow good Black citizens to stay in hotels, buy gas, or many other things.

    Get into how Nixon created the Southern Strategy.

    List the white record producers who only published gangsta rap, and refused to promote many other kinds of Black music.

    Today's entry in is Christine de Pizan, the first professional female writer in Europe, and it's going to be very brief because the biography I found was very brief, and also she was born in 1364 and we don't have tons of sources about her. It is a mark of how special she was that we know anything about her at all, in fact.

    The clear message I am getting from Bluesky is that black people felt unsafe on mastodon. Black Twitter was a huge part of what made it special, and it's been notably absent on mastodon. I will be sad if mastodon loses to a less-open alternative because it couldn't figure out how to be welcoming to everyone.

    There is a particular industrial automation product, and despite repeated requests to devs not to use OpenAI ChatGPT to leak company code and secrets, devs kept using it. However, ChatGPT is blocked on corporate networks starting Monday, including VPN. So the risk of leaks is real with ChatGPT. I am not a big fan of such blocked, but what choice do they have? They are not going to opensource their code ever. I don't know the future, but it seems like a cat-and-mouse game.

    Part 1 is easy: For all points, compute c = sqrt(a^2 + b^2), then find the minimum.

    Part 2 is harder, and I would need to reread my statistics books to determine the random variable.
