I had a Twitter list "standard stuff" where I listed the core accounts I definitely wanted to hear about. This fav list grew over the years and had 120 users in total. These were active users that in the golden era posted every day. These were the ones I wanted to read whenever possible.

I wanted to see what's the status today so I went through every account and here's the result. By "inactive" I mean users who haven't posted anything in two months or more.

  • 20% have completely deleted their account (the list now has 95 users)
  • 36% still post frequently
  • 64% are inactive or quit using Twitter
  • 30% are inactive without any reason given
  • 23% of those who still post on X also have active Mastodon, Bluesky or Threads accounts
  • 1% quit and moved to Bluesky
  • 1% quit and moved to Mastodon
  • 1% is active on Threads

@rolle I’ve noticed a huge change in Twitter. Interaction with others has gone down. My favourite users have left and others don’t post like they used to.

The Weekly Review - Issue 3

This week, I talk about Apple Reminders woes, Apple Notes for coding, and 100 Days of Code.

Switching to Mac last month has been interesting because I have learnt a lot of new things. What I am now looking for is a list of the best open source software available for Macs. I am already using @bitwarden on my MacBook Air. Any recommendations for graphics apps?

Excessive note-taking? I spent time with all these apps over the last two months.
Call it procrastination, curiosity, or whatever you want.

All of them have their own strengths and weaknesses. Only three of them actually fit my lifestyle and workload.

Should I blog about it?

I bashed Notion without ever trying it. Now I’ve tried it (for one day).

I can see how it could appeal to people. I’m not sure what came first but there’s some similarities to other apps I have used.
The calendar integration Notion Calendar (Cron) is particularly good.

One reason was my goal of reading in 2024.

I have read at least 30 minutes each day for 39 days straight. I’ve nearly finished my fourth book, 1984, which is a great read btw.

As much as I like my Apple Watch, I love the simplicity of Casio.

A busy day changing how I work with my notes and tasks.

Personal notes, daily journal (and PKM) in Obsidian. I’m lucky to get the 40% educational discount.
I’ve switched TickTick for my task management. Apple Reminders will has my routine reminders as a fail safe.

One year of no gaming and what do I reach for…

Super Mario Bros. 2 on the 2DS. We have other consoles in the house, but I went for some nostalgia.

Watching my wife play the new Mario Wonder game, which is incredible btw, inspired me to go down the Nintendo route.

I have a new blog...

It's more of a journal blog that could be my main blog.
I'm using Scribbles by @vincentritter . It is an amazing, minimalist blogging platform.

Here’s my iPhone box collection. I have the iPhones still. Does anyone else keep the boxes, even when they have no intention of selling them for the foreseeable future?

The next book on my list to read. Make Time by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky is great so far. Plenty of relatable content.

Luckily, I have already made a few changes to how I consume content and make myself available to family and friends.

I haven’t posted much in the past two weeks. I’ve been busy.

Some like to use buzz words like ‘Hyper Focused’ but that’s not it.

I was simply focused and set priorities each day to coincide with my current values. I’ve achieved a lot in this space of time.

I wonder if I could write a blog under 2000 words about my experience? 🫣 Shall l blog about it?

Time for a bit of web development learning. CSS has always been the sticking point for me. It puts me off when I have to remember all the sectors and when to use them.

My projects page is all set up with sets, tags, due dates, descriptions and tasks using Anytype.

Learning how to use Anytype is easy when you take the time to read through the documentation.

@michaelgemar @rolle @MonaApp Absolutely. I’ve had a good play with the Mac version. It reminds me of TweetDeck with a lot more customisation.

@rolle Mastodon is going to be my main social media platform for 2024. It will be the first place I post to before any of the others.
