's stock value has dropped more than 12.6% in the 8 trading days since the "controversy" over it's products began on May 17th.

That amounts to about $9.3 billion in the company's market value.

made the mistake of pulling some items to appease bigots who continue their boycott because *any Pride merch is too much.

AS

Many shoppers and aware-allies have also stopped shopping at Target because the chain caved to bigots.

Double Boycott = Lose/Lose for Target.

@DemocracySpot They caved to domestic terrorists. Oh, well.

"Chicken feed," as candy corn was originally called because of its appearance, was invented by the Wunderle Candy Company in the late 1880s during a candy boom in the United States. — NYT (10/26/23)

"Each year, she shares one bag with her husband, and they have no plans to give it up. “I totally get all the people who are like: ‘It’s disgusting. It has like a weird, waxy texture,’” she said. “I totally know where they’re coming from, but I’ll still eat it. Is that weird?””

Yes.

From the article...

Candy corn was developed for working-class children. Evidently, to put them off candy.

Yesterday, most of the just-opening buds like this one had fallen to the ground. There are hundreds of unopened buds, but I don't expect any more flowers this season.

🎧 📺 THE WAR ON DISCO will air/stream Monday, October 30 at 9/8c on AMERICAN EXPERIENCE.

It's no secret that the backlash against Disco was racist and homophobic. People of Color and queer people came together to dance and have fun, in public, in a safe space, and the "Afraid Somebody Somewhere Might Be Having Fun" crowd hated us for it.

@DemocracySpot I have that one set to record to DVR. I was a teen at the time, but I remember some of the backlash fairly well.

RIP Richard Roundtree.

Roundtree's name is synonymous with SHAFT, but he accomplished much before and after that historic movie.

Roundtree began modeling for EBONY while in college on a full football scholarship. After school, he went to NY where he studied acting and joined Negro Ensemble Company. There, he played boxer Jack Johnson in THE GREAT WHITE HOPE, Off-Broadway.

THE MUSEUM OF UNCUT FUNK met and talked to Roundtree and published this profile.
