They all share tech, so this is a win.

Where they differ is in the "culture" they come from and push.

comes from surveillance capitalism, it's from the and has meany of the same assumptions, just "better".

comes from the and bro crew and suffers from being from this mess.

is native and comes from the traditions the whole software world is actually built on.

We made it to the opening of "radical landscapes" with Thalia Campbell to sit next to her banner.

My use of is confusing a lot of people, good to have some signal in the noise on this subject https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypertext am using them in the way the was designed to use them.

You guys need to talk to each other @michaelgraaf @rooftopaxx @nedhamson as this space is culture

The https://dwebcamp.org/videos/ crew look so out of touch with the and our reboot in general.

Hamishcampbell, to internet

The "protocol wars" of new protocols, including , , and , am suggesting that bridges between them are a good solution to the current issues. All of these protocols are and native, which is a positive development. However, the cultures of these protocols are different and this can create messiness in the discussions.

I advocate for a grassroots culture and urge people to focus on building bridges rather than adding to the mess.

At another #Oxford event "How can we build the sustainable economy?' with Dieter Helm & Dimitri Zenghelis" let's see if this steps out of the pointless #mainstreaming path of the last 3 events #oxfordmartinschool

@e8johan was wondering about the status of the https://conf.tube instance to host videos for this https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/ngi-forum-2023/3354 and who is admin now for uploads. is this instance still a part of our "commons" :)

Hamishcampbell, (edited ) to fediverse

The of the has dropped the quality and interestingness of content share by a lot over the last few months.

This is a issue we have not looked at yet.

Hamishcampbell, to fediverse

Hamish Campbell is an organic intellectual and a part of the . He is the owner of the website http://hamishcampbell.com, which features his projects, videos, and blog posts. He is also active on social media platforms such as the , Twitter and YouTube. Hamish is interested in the intersection of politics and technology and believes that all code is ideology solidified into action. He is critical of contemporary code based on capitalism.

Hamishcampbell, (edited ) to KISS

The "tragedy of the commons" is complex as it's a real thing inside capitalism, and we do all live inside capitalism, so it's a real thing. For it not to be a real thing, you will need to change the human world to live in a different economic system to capitalism - this is a challenge.

So functionally, it is a real thing that we encounter in most alternatives. Best to keep this in mind when building alternatives

etc :)

It's interesting that we are finding it hard to move past the "policing" of language use.

Do you think this is useful to think of as legacy "stupid" that nobody can be more right than anyone else, maybe this is a good example of the capture of the idea of imperialism

Would be funny if it did not matter, we have so much compost to shovel.

Hamishcampbell, to churning

The and problem we have suffered from the last 15 years. Composting is a good use for , but the is strong on this use.

The mess we have made with and of the last 40 years needs a path out of.

We can all agree it's a mess, can we agree to pick up shovels to compost this mess

Let's look at the social and political ground the owners of our "new" social media stand on:

X (twitter) is far right
Threads (Facebook/Instagram) corporate right
Nostor Libertarian right

Mastodon centre left

That's it, we have no real left-wing social media, good to keep this in mind when supporting projects

The is a collection of decentralized social networking platforms that use , allowing people to communicate and share content across different networks. These platforms are designed to be community-driven and to prioritize native culture, which is inherently unfriendly to capitalism.

is an online platform that serves as a forum for discussions and collaboration related to the development and implementation of decentralized social networking protocols and technologies. The platform is focused on the Fediverse, a network of decentralized social media platforms that use the ActivityPub protocol to communicate with each other.

The project is an initiative aimed at reviving the project, a decentralized grassroots media network that emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The project was founded on the principles of open publishing, direct democracy, and anti-authoritarianism. This very powerful project was ripped apart from internal and external tensions and forces.
