The internet is a confusing place. I was looking for news stories about Mr Blobby, then I somehow fell down an INSANE rabbit-hole so that when my wife came in and asked what I'm doing because I'm supposed to be getting ready, I said to her the following..................
I'm trying to verify that the man who holds the record for inserting most creme eggs into his anus was eaten by a crocodile.
I hate the internet.
(It's 9!)
Edit - I don't know if they were wrapped or unwrapped and I don't know if he was eaten by a crocodile as the Daily Sport asserts in their article.
@eniko Eldritch (~10k users) silences them, which is a mixed blessing. They can see my posts, but unless I specifically follow an account on there, I can't see them, even if they @ me. It's annoying on normal traffic days when I just want to talk to people, but it's spared me some reply guys when a post gets boosted beyond my usual circles.
Sorry if I’m quiet for a bit. Last night I started getting pain again in my side.
Got worse and worse and I wasn’t able to sleep at all till 7am.
Kindney stones again. Time pieces probably but the pain is just as bad.
Slept most of the day and now the pain is starting again, so tonight will be hell again. Not to mention the nausea.
I have a soft spot for Libertarians even though I shouldn't and they don't deserve it. When I was a kid I had a weird neighbor who was always giving me Libertarian books... I wish I still had some of them they were WILD. He was a thorn in the side of the local, school board as well insisting that if they had an event at the school that involved politics Libertarians had to be included.
And in defense of the guy, he was about as likable and earnest as a Libertarian could be.
@futurebird yeah, I knew some US libertarians via the internet in the late 90s and many of them weren't too philosophically different to black flag anarchists. Lot of queer kids and kindhearted alternative subculture types.
In the years that followed, a lot of them switched over to more European style anarchism, and a couple of them sadly came out as unconscionable arseholes who'd only ever been paying lip service to notions of personal liberty, which seems to be where the dominant strain of US libertarianism ended up.
The funny thing about Microsoft's new Recall feature is how little actual "AI" it's doing. It's basically just making automatic screen captures, then running OCR and image recognition to create a semantic index you can search. Unless I'm missing something, there's no LLM (or small language model) used in it. Maybe in parsing queries?
@ianbetteridge My main takeaway from doing (admittedly fairly high-level overview type) writing, research, and documentation in the current machine learning/AI space is that a load of things that weren't AI two years ago are suddenly AI.
this whole thing is just a goddamn kink isn't it. he keeps being like "oh noooo what if AI becomes sentient, and eeeevil? what if my AGI girlfriend wants to... step on me? 😱"
