Have to wade through 28 paragraphs of hype before getting to the caveat that, gee, injecting stuff into your veins for fun and somebody else's profit might not be such a good idea.:

Oh, the credulity. When has Donald Trump ever chosen principle?

@jeffjarvis That depends; does “scam as much money and power as I can” count as a principle?

The Times takes a roundabout route to describe Donald Trump's witness tampering.

What the Post is hating on here is not the choice but on the election itself: on democracy. The Post and Times are election deniers of their own sort, denying the validity of the choice between competent leadership and fascism. They go find voters to fulfill their agenda.

As terrible as the NYT can be, it also can do this. Turn over the entire Sunday Opinion section to people who are unhoused. Not to make an argument about individual responsibility, but to let real people share their stories.

It’s Sunday at the New York Times, so guess what? Smart Republicans have wised up and “learned to love Trump," whereas the Democrats are in disarray.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he actually cares about plagiarism.

Here’s a great peek behind the curtain of this magically disgusting sleight of hand.

Once you’ve read that @JuliusGoat essay, check out this Vox story that confirms the absolute worst reflexes of the news media:

  • yes, we know it’s all play-acting!
  • yes, bad faith abounds!
  • yes, we see the frame!
  • and yet! we’re still going to do a 2,000-word deep dive into just what exactly plagiarism really is

Today with breathtaking clarity the political journalists of the New York Times show us they cannot rise to the challenge of this election. They will portray it as two candidates clashing, each calling the other a threat to democracy. “Reality Is at Stake” the headline reads—but these reporters will not tell us what the reality is, even though they know.

Morning Quiz!

This is The New York Times:
A) writing in its oh-so-sophisticated “you get what we really mean” style
B) assuming the reader knows facts that are not explained in the lede
C) as a result, giving the impression that Trump is making a serious argument
D) thus creating a “both sides” narrative out of dissimilar events
E) cutesying it all up by framing the whole thing around the nebulous concept of “reality”
F) paving the way to hell with not-so-good intentions
G) all of the above
