I'm basically stalled/stuck on the issue and haven't moved forward on any other aspect of this project. I need the source code for the controller and/or cycleAnalyst? Somewhere there's a bug in the regen current limit, and also my desired braking scheme (hold this speed) should be easily supported if it could dynamically change that speed limit parameter. Between weak braking and hamfisted control, it's not an easy bike to use. ๐Ÿ˜ž Because software.

@enobacon what did GRIN say about it? Is it working as intended? Seems like they should fix it if not

Again, corporations have essentially stopped all pretenses about caring about their employees.

@BlackAzizAnansi The executives that are making these "strategic decisions" are the exact same ones that complain that employees aren't loyal to the company.

Yet another "safety" project where the deadly status quo has been maintained for years while wrings their collective hands about how to do it without impeding cars.

"Gonzalez recently released a melodramatic video claiming he was "accosted" by a female fellow TriMet rider on January 27, who allegedly subjected him to โ€œdeliberate, unwanted physical contactโ€ while also having the gall to criticize the public servant over his cruel policies. @enobacon I don't follow him, but just clicked to view his profile. This seems super odd and offputting: "Do not re-post my posts (or screenshots of my posts) on other platforms. These posts are meant only for Mastodon."

Could you have maybe violated his weird rule?

"Senate Bill 1553-1 would make illegal drug use on transit a Class A Misdemeanor.

By making this change in the law, police would have the enforcement tools they need to help make public transit a drug-free zone and give people experiencing addiction a path to help." citation needed

@enobacon We've learned absolutely nothing. See: the movement to revoke Measure 110 simply because we passed it without anywhere NEAR the funding necessary to implement it. We just keep giving the money to cops expecting things to change.

Karstan,
@Karstan@urbanists.social avatar

@enobacon And folks will straight up do it for free! My neighbors have started piling brush and debris in the street and on the trail under the Terwilliger bridge because some poor person had the bad taste to exist in those locations. Nevermind that they're blocking the trail and road for all their other neighbors.

Oregon's unemployment insurance system is completely trashed and could save a lot of money if they replaced most of their process with a tax form or something. All of their fraud prevention measures are redundant to tax fraud, while so much wasted time and effort makes it ineffective as a safety net. We should delete like ten social welfare programs and replace them with basic income obvs but this one is all kinds of ๐Ÿ˜’

Karstan,
@Karstan@urbanists.social avatar

@enobacon It's SO terrible. I was unemployed for nearly 2 years awhile back and lost out on so many short term contract opportunities that had the potential to become full time employment because of their poorly thought out policies.

Looking for suggestions on how to word something (probably an email).

Situation: my landlord didn't renew my lease back at the start of December so it automatically went month-to-month (I should have asked for a new lease, but I was afraid the rent would jump if I did).

My lease didn't authorize pets. However it's not a strictly no pets place. There are a set of rules and a blank space for an extra deposit if you have approved ones. The rules mostly apply to dogs.

Since 99% of the fake meats out there contain soy, wheat, corn, nuts and/or coconut oil (foods I can't have) I've been developing my own protein patties. Just something to give me a break from ALL-LEGUMES-ALL-THE-TIME. My latest version is mostly pea protein powder, tapioca flour, and chickpea/fava bean flour (along with stuff to add flavor).

But without access to a commercial pressure cooker/extruder I'm stuck on how to add texture. I tried jackfruit but it didn't play well. Thoughts?

I'm doing some searches for natural fiber athletic clothing (namely running shirts) and ALL the natural fiber (plant-based, I don't consider wool to be a natural fiber) clothing brands are almost exclusively for women's bodies. Not that I'm against wearing something branded for women if it fits me okay. But I'm not seeing anything that fits that bill. :/

Just heard NPR describe Barbara Lee as "really far to the left" and then support that description by playing a sound bite of her saying "killing 25,000 civilians; it's catastrophic and it will never lead to peace". ๐Ÿคฆ

I'd like to live in a world where "killing innocent people is wrong" isn't an extremist view.

@seachanger They didn't, but I'd read that elsewhere. She's legit!

So I have a sump pump that keeps my (occupied) basement from flooding. In weather like this, it works overtime... as long as there's electricity.

In the 2021 ice storm, I was out every 2-3 hours for 4 1/2 days bailing with a bucket. I now have a 478Wh backup battery for it. What are the odds the battery lasts longer than my current power outage?? ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Karstan,
@Karstan@urbanists.social avatar

@enobacon ๐Ÿคท I dunno, but I seriously gotta calculate it at some point. I guess I'm testing in my production environment?๐Ÿ˜ I'm just grateful it's working! I tried hooking it up to the inverter in my truck last time, but it didn't put out enough amps.

The crankarm thing does give me an idea though... Manually operated pumps are absolutely a thing and I don't know why I never thought of getting one before. It would be a way better backup than a dang bucket.

Karstan,
@Karstan@urbanists.social avatar

@enobacon hmmm... It'd have be a slow siphon somehow. Maybe a narrow diameter hose? Something to keep the flow continuous so I don't lose the siphon action.

Karstan,
@Karstan@urbanists.social avatar

@enobacon power just came back on. 1:20 of heavy sump pump use drained it to 93%. Not too shabby

Karstan,
@Karstan@urbanists.social avatar

@enobacon I like it! I'll definitely investigate and test something out this summer. The biggest hurdle is going to be finding a spot below the elevation of the sump pump but still on my property. Not a deal killler but could drastically simplify things during an event like this.

Of course, there's a sewer line not 4 feet away and definitely lower than the pump well... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
