Great. Appoint a couple of people who blindly support a guy who stole government secrets (which he confessed to and shipped the evidence that he had done so directly to the government he stole them from) and left them lying around a public country club where literally anyone could see them to the Intelligence committee.

I hope people are paying attention to this.

@TonyStark Who would have thought there would be people Speaker Johnson could nominate to the committee that could make current Republican members French Hill, Dan Crenshaw, and Mike Garcia look like reasonable human beings? Perry and Jackson are two of the worst. What, Lauren Boebert didn't have time in her schedule of campaigning not to lose her seat come November?

"The carried a banner that said “It is right to rebel, go to hell,” with an inverted red triangle on it, which has come to signify support for on social media because the terror group uses the symbol in videos of its attacks. The student demonstrators repeatedly formed inverted triangles with their hands, flashing the symbol at the counter-protesters. Another protester brandished a banner that had a inside a Star of David while shouting: “ of Satan.”

The pro- , anti- demonstrators chanted “From to , globalize the ,” and “Hillel, Hillel, what do you say? How many kids did you kill today?”

This is why a free press is vital, so at least one can hold another outlet accountable.

Needless to add that there are major problems at the Washington Post and I’ve been talking about them for awhile.

They are going to need quite a rehabilitation to regain trust, if it’s possible.

@TonyStark I know most of our friends are no longer reading WaPo, but I have my subscription paid through December so I am. It's so bad. They went to the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia this weekend (a festival that attracts young Black people) and interviewed people willing to say Biden is too old and they are either staying home or considering voting for Trump (or RFK Jr). Way to make people think that's how Gen Z in a swing state is voting. Half of them live in New York too, not Pennsylvania.

Hillel and Hubbard aren’t “Zionist organizations” and even if they were, that’s not a good reason to try and expunge them from campuses, so I don’t think “rethinking” your language is going to help.

It’s also pretty ironic for the “college is where you air out all your ideas regardless” crowd to try and eliminate one group of people. Unless they’re just antisemites.

I haven’t been overly thrilled with the Washington Post since Sally Buzbee came in but this seems much, much worse.

They let go of quite a few good journalists and have kept on those who seem determined to ruin their reputation. This definitely isn’t going to help.

It’s not a good sign for the publication or for the state of U.S journalism at all.

@TonyStark I'm paid up for a full year. Fortunately, a very cheap holiday rate. The DMV coverage is important to me but I am just going to start paying local, independent outlets like the Baltimore Banner for the Maryland coverage I want. I can't take this any more. For a major USA-based paper, it's time to look elsewhere.

@PamelaBarroway @TonyStark It will make me sad not to renew WaPo this time. I'm digital-only now but I felt so grown-up at 24 or 25 when I finally got my own paper subscription delivered to my apartment and didn't just snitch discarded sections on Metro in the mornings or my building's break room at lunch! But it's one more thing Bezos has ruined.

When students miss class for medical reasons, they provide a note that they are under a doctor's care, not the condition. I suspect these professors aren't silent about their feelings on abortion, so probably no student has ever told them they are having one.

Despite the school being in Austin, the lawsuit to not have to excuse students who get abortions was filed 400 miles away in Amarillo so that Judge Kasmaryk will hear it. No need to wonder how he'll find.

It’s a pattern. Clinton balances the budget and hands it to Bush . Bush gets a second term because of 9/11 and then tanks the economy due to flimsy regulation on lending and Obama is left with the an economy in tatters. Obama fixes it.

Trump got off to good start because Obama teed it up for him.

@TonyStark Maybe if he hadn't pushed for the death penalty for five innocent young Black men, I'd celebrate a little less. He brought every bit of this on himself with his hubris. Funny, if he'd had a little thicker skin when our first Black president made fun of him at a dinner, he wouldn't be a convicted felon today and would just be an old man with bad hair hosting season whatever of a dumb reality show.

Another day, another climate action by the Biden administration, this time providing another $900 million from his signature infrastructure law for school districts to buy 3400 clean school buses, which not only reduces emissions but improves student health and positively impacts lower-income and non-white communities the most.

Nobody else running is as qualified or has a better platform.

@TonyStark I hope the climate action people will take note and vote for Biden in November. Anything else is a vote to watch the world burn.

Also, one of my frustrations is how many kids are driven to school, by their own parent. Some of that is poorly-planned neighborhoods without sidewalks so even the closest kids can't walk, which also makes for long bus rides for kids who live further out. At least if you're going to drive your kid, carpool with other families for fewer idling cars.

Trump doesn't know what he wants his contraceptive policy to be. Should states be able to restrict it? This morning he thought yes, just like states can now outlaw abortion. This afternoon he said he wasn't for banning it, and neither is the Republican party. Sure, and I'm not trusting them either.

Vote for Republicans and who knows what you'll get. and you'll get expanded health care, not restricted.

@Pepper The state senator trying to pass this law is inspired by his brother-in-law giving his sister the miso/mife combo without her consent. States already criminalize assault, and provide for extra penalties for assault on someone who is pregnant and miscarries. There's no need to criminalize possession of safe medications unless all you want to do is force women to stay pregnant or have severe hardship not to be. We don't have a "reich" of any kind in this country, at least not yet. Trump's website mentioned it three times today before it was deleted 18 hours later, then blamed it on a staffer's cut and paste.

In a game of "I'm rubber, you're glue," a spokesperson instead called Biden the extremist and accused him of being the one hanging out with antisemites.

According to Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, religious freedom means being able to prevent other people's access to contraception, so he had to veto a bill that would have enshrined rights.

He also vetoed bills ending tax breaks for the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the issuance of new Confederate license plates.

This is what you get when you elect Republicans, no matter how affable or moderate they pretend to be before an election.

I couldn’t be more glad that Black voters actually have a chance at better representation because that’s what everyone deserves.

Democrat David Trone adequately represents the only competitive House district in the state, but I’m glad his privately-funded campaign didn’t buy the Senate primary. Angela Alsobooks is the choice of Maryland Democrats.

Republican Larry Hogan may be anti-Trump, but he’ll vote however Mitch McConnell’s successor wants. Alsobrooks will be a reliable vote for Maryland’s interests. Plus the Senate needs Black women’s voices. Enough with Maryland’s all-male delegation.

MariaHill,

@MisterMoo I’m not willing to find out how anti-Trump Hogan is. As governor, he talked a good game as a moderate but was basically an obstruction to Democratic priorities. Which is why a lot of people vote for Republicans in blue states, under some misguided notion that government doing nothing is best, until say, expanded access to abortion is vetoed and you need one. Or take Maryland’s previous Republican governor, Bob Ehrlich, who vetoed same-sex couples visiting partners in the hospital.
