@the_etrain Back in the days of dumb sat navs I was delighted to find out that one can expand it with custom voices. Had tons of fun.

Current workplace has insane number of meetings and nobody seems to think this an issue.

Other places I have worked this would be considered a serious problem. I guess agencies don't care as long as it's all billing hours.

@danjac Not only agencies. I think it's generally places that (despite what they say) don't trust people and don't have ways of challenging authorities.

Sometimes I can't help but wonder whether some large fraction of product designers actively hate people with low vision. For example, I just had to take a photo and use zoom and image enhancement to determine that this Keurig pod is decaffeinated.

If I were Empress of Earth, I would allow only vision-impaired people to work as product or UX designers.

    @nuncio Yup. Same story is me, from the other side. As a manager I advocated for my folks to get an upgrade of their machines. My manager thought that it would be a great idea to start with me. I literally just sit on zoom meetings and move things in Jira. Such a waste.

    To every single out there: There are people (like me) who do want to put items into the shopping basket and leave it there sitting for days or even weeks. If you drop the contents of said basket and force me to click around again, there is quite high probability you will lose me as a customer.

    @flameeyes @geekupdated I bought on Kobo before. The promise was DRM free, but no way to check up until after purchase. It wax not DRM free. Or I don't understand how to read that platform.

    @flameeyes Also I'm not sure if the terms are correct, but basically I want an ePub that's readable anywhere. I got some *.asmc or something that required to install some Adobe stuff to be able to read it. It did not work. I was not able to use the ebook.

    @flameeyes Bookmarked for later reading, but I think I get the gist. There is a big step from "broken, because software sucks" and "broken, because the corporates want it broken".

    @flameeyes Broken because corporate wants it broken == DRM (or other way) locked so that customer can't take their content elsewhere. I am sure this is deliberate.

    @flameeyes It's curious to me why. Nothing stops you from reading an ePub on a Kindle. UX of everything Amazon is abysmal anyways so it's hard to argue that it's easier to buy within their ecosystem. And the one-stop-shop argument seems like a non feature to me for many as it's only very specific markets (US, UK) that consider that a must. But I guess that also explains why I never built multi billion $ company.

    It's always interesting to me when I see people talking about how much less engagement they get here vs their history on other places.

    And then I look at their account and they hardly follow anyone, and rarely reply except to people who are responding to their posts.

    Like, I don't wanna tell anyone how they should do social media... but my own observation is that this place is less a broadcast forum and more of a conversation. And folks don't like one-sided conversations.

    For those of you that don't get it: My first computer had 500MB HDD. Standard games back then tried to fill an entire CD (~650 MB) so I really did not have too much space left if I wanted to play games.
