I never thought in my lifetime I’d witness a former President of the United States making an argument before our Supreme Court that they can murder their political opponents with impunity and instead of being IMMEDIATELY rejected and shunned from society forever one political party is embracing this argument.

The viciousness with which this country hates the poor people we demonize,punish, then blame for being poor in the system we created to make poor people inevitable is a moral failure which is almost unmatched in recent history.

I have thought about this paragraph from @JuliusGoat in his latest example of excellence in writing and moral clarity endlessly. How we don’t see the rise of fascism as a 5 alarm fire for humanity baffles me. How can there possibly be so many millions who find this cruelty and violence so appealing?

One thing I always think of on this day is how it resulted in the United States openly accepting and participating in torturing other human beings as a matter of policy.
We should have been better than that but we can never seem to resist the bigotry and hatred that is clearly deeply ingrained in this nation.
