@gdinwiddie @Mastodon Once the Federated Timeline is visible the advanced interface keeps bloating up until the browsertab is irresponsible. Probably fails to unload cached media.

The bug already existed in '21, don't know why they didn't fix it yet.

I wonder if this is at all related to challenges with moderating an instance of checks notes 200k active accounts? Or with moderating new accounts on the only instance actively promoted in the official apps? :thinking_rotate:

Thankfully we can always defederate! What's that? It's the biggest instance so there are real concerns about a lot of people losing connections? Whodda thunk it!

While I really hate what currently happens I'd personally prefer not to defederate. At least not now.

Guess I have to use my range for something good for a change. Please read and #RT if the #Fediverse is important to you.

A few days ago, @Gargron, maintainer of #Mastodon and the big instance mastodon.social, wrote a blogpost explaining how the official app will soon feature his instance as a default.

Voices of the community weren't heard. He even doubled-down on it.

We have to prevent this change.

To make it abundantly clear: I do not think Eugen is acting with malevolent intentions. I do however strongly criticize the lack of communication and that what he's currently doing promotes more competition instead of cooperation (even if it's by accident), which the Fediverse should not have.

The reason we're so nice to each other here is because most of us expect the other to be inherently good, or at least have good intentions even when they're angry. Competition alienates this culture.

@Wraithe I pretty much was as I didn't get what they meant (like... Home-Owners Association?), but if they immediately paint me into a corner with some whiny excuse to block me I'm more than happy about it. Arguing with these people is usually an absolute waste of time and will end up in a block from one side anyway.

@kaia Even if there were replacements for the Lagoon ANC I'd rather buy the Fairphone parts and make myself an adapter piece. Their design breaks easily and is irreparable.

@Mela Und dann nichtmal so das endlich in beispielsweise modernere Rollstühle auf eine Weise investiert wird das sie sowohl bezahlbar als auch von Kassen übernommen werden...

Und wenn ich erst an Infrastruktur denke... zum Glück wohnt mein Rolli Nachbar im EG. Technisch dürften alle Wohnungen an ihn vermietet werden, praktisch fällt der (neue!) Aufzug alle 3 Wochen für 1-3 Tage aus. Vom Licht mal abgesehen, gab ne ganze Woche wo es nur mit Taschenlampe durchs fensterlose Treppenhaus ging. 🙄

@jebba The app feels like a programmers work too tbh, it's not exactly looking good. Their ain't any overview or dashboard either despite being 3 years old, just the different functions that contain automatically generated graphs (that are bad to reas with dark mode on).

Tbh, the app feels like it was a paid job, not something the developer liked to do. That or it was someone's first project.
