No idea what sort of birds these are — sorry about the dogs. We heard this cacophony while out walking this evening. I thought they might be Eastern Screech Owls, but now not so sure.

Video shot on the edge of the woods this evening — deep shadows and a bit of darkening sky. No idea what birds are making noise. There are also a couple of dogs barking in the distance.

. This redbud is deep in the woods at what must have been a homestead once. It is at the edge of a clearing.

Have a good day.

Beautiful, cool, sunny Friday morning. There were even patches of frost on the ground in a few isolated spots.

Have a good day.

Techno-optimism.
Techno-fantabulism.
Techno-fantasy — you get the drift.
"To us, insisting that there’s a technological fix for every problem in the world seems not just optimistic, but also rather convenient if you happen to be among the richest people on Earth and in a position to profit from the technology industry."

This upbeat story is about human persistence and tenacity more than it is about technology — but the technology is pretty amazing too. And it's from 1977. That's more than 46 years ago.

Interesting discussion of monopoly practices in the sport card (e.g., baseball cards) business—
"After deciding to move into the sports trading card market, Fanatics used exclusive trademark licenses to secure the sole rights to produce MLB, NFL and NBA cards...

While some people may see baseball cards as mere child’s play, the U.S. sports card industry is estimated to be a US$12 billion market. Since...COVID-19... there’s been a surge in interest."

Crazy to me that TFG (a.k.a. he who will not be named here) and others at top of the Republican Party have convinced so many working class followers that they are the low tax party. They're not — unless you're either wealthy or a corporation: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-era-tax-cuts-set-160750197.html

It really is "smoke and mirrors." It always was. Goes back to David Stockman's "trickle down economics" — and earlier!

@RunRichRun Cattle feed from other animal species may transfer other diseases. Scrapie from sheep & goats -> BSE in beef cattle.
