@protonmail please create an option to run your app 100% degoogled. Im Talkin about notifications here. πŸ˜‰β€‹
I run e/OS as my daily mobile OS & i don't mind the super small extra battery usage it would cause over evil google, similar to how @signalapp does it. πŸ˜€β€‹

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Hey Retro gamers, i got a new game for Christmas for my lol. . I have memories of playing this, cruising around the town never really figuring it out as a 5 yr old but enjoying it anyway. Now I can try to really play it.

:kirby_happy: Hey retro gamers, today I pulled a couple SNES games off my shelf. and . Super R Type is fun. Many hours were spent on that one. Battleship is what it is lol.

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Hey retro gamers, are you into baseball? Here are a couple baseball games for the NES. I remember playing these with my friends since they were on a team. Baseball is a 5 screw cart. The stickers on LLB says .

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Hey retro gamers, it's cold today πŸ₯Άβ€‹. I pulled a couple more NES games off my shelf. Double Dare & Wood & Water Rage. Both r fun but physical challenges get repetitive on DD & music drives me nuts on WWR.

Zander, to VideoGames

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Happy Black Friday retro gamers. Today I pulled a couple games off the shelf. TaleSpin & Desert Strike. Great games, but I logged far more hours on Desert Strike while growing up.

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Hey Retro Gamers, Happy Weekend! Today I pulled down a couple different NES games from my shelf. MicroMachines and Pac-Man. Both decent games, however it is almost impossible to get this MicroMachines cartage to play. I cleaned it with alcohol, no luck. Any other ideas?

Zander,

@nazokiyoubinbou yeah contacts look clean & I just replaced the cartridge slot inside the NES last month so its probably something with that chip like u said. Its not a big deal, just a shame it doesn't want to work. That's Nintendo for ya. I'd rather not cut out parts inside the NES but thx 4 the link. I'll still bookmark it & read it.

Zander,

@nazokiyoubinbou I'm wondering if just a slight dab of solder could bridge that better. maybe something i can try when I have free time (which is rare these days lol)

Zander,

@nazokiyoubinbou yeah im sure my friends dad got this used from a Funcoland as well so who knows how many previous owners it had. My friends were older than me so they played with it heavily as well before giving me their NES games when the playstation came out.

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Hey retro gamers, today I pulled a couple NES games from my shelf. They are two really good titles. Eliminator Boat Duel and RoadBlasters. Two great games, I still enjoy them a lot to this day. If you like racing games, seriously try these!

Floppy disks were high-tech weapons back then. πŸ’Ύ

Zander,

@nixCraft You just gave me a flashback to watching in my high school web design class. Even though it was dated it was still good.

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Hey retro game fans! Todays pull from my NES shelf are two great games. One of my favorites for the NES is Guerrilla War. I never stopped playing this game! The music is also great for NES, it will get stuck in your head for days. Jackal is similar to Guerrilla as gameplay goes. Another great game!

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Sup Retro Gamers! Today my shelf pull is a couple Game Cube games. Sonic Adventure DX Directors Cut & Eighteen 18 Wheeler American Pro Trucker. Unlike American/European Truck Simulator, this one you race trucks. Sonic Adventure is a fun game, but I still like Sonic Heroes better πŸ˜‹β€‹.

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Hey Retro gamers todays shelf pull is 2 of my dads games. Rampart & Madden 97 on Sega Genesis. I never really got into either one but my dad loved games like Rampart & my cousin loved playing Madden games. Did you play these? Were they fun?

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Hey Retro Gamers, Today's pull from my shelf is NES Mappy-Land & Sesame Street 123. Sesame Street 123 features 2 kids games to teach simple numbers & maths as well as simple shapes. Mappyland however, is still fun to play today & is still challenging (imo). If you haven't tried Mappy-Land, I would recommend it.

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Happy Monday Retro Gamers. Today's games I grabbed off my shelf are NES Mickey Mousecapade and Yoshi's Cookie. The Mickey game I never really enjoyed. Yoshi's Cookie I really enjoy playing now vs when I was a kid, it was a bit challenging.

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Hey retro gamers, I'm a day late but here is my NES Friday the 13th game along with another great game, Karnov. These have always been a couple of favorites of mine for the NES.

Zander,

@nazokiyoubinbou Well, until more recently I didn't even know what to do either until looking it up. I always died around day 2 with the ultra rare occasion of getting the sweater then promptly getting a game over. But when I was a kid it was fun to run around and kill things b4 being killed myself. I've never beat it yet to this day. πŸ˜‚β€‹πŸ‘»β€‹

Zander,

@nazokiyoubinbou our household was also friday the 13th fans too and I was watching all the OG movies by age 5 πŸ˜‚β€‹ so that probably had something to do with me actually "liking" the game lol.

Zander,

@nazokiyoubinbou 😹😹😹 hahahaha yeah, I had a crazy family with no rules on ratings. Those were used more as a suggestion. I can't tell u the number of times the employee said to my parents or grandma renting the movie/games "I have to let you know this is not suitable for kids". But to their defense, my mom made sure I understood fully that it wasn't real at all by making me watch behind the scenes stuff (which i enjoyed) & even went somewhere to watch something get filmed. But did I have nightmares? Yeah all the damn time at that age, I was in kindergarten 😹😹. But when I woke up & it registered in my head that I was dreaming, I looked around and went back to sleep (after turning on the night light of course lol).

My VHS/DVD collection (which I still own) had all the Friday the 13ths, Child's Play, Halloween, Nightmare on elm street (for some reason that messed with me the most) and the OG Leprechaun (1993 I think) up to whatever the latest was. Hell I seen a pic somewhere of me playing Doom on my grandpas DOS PC in a diaper lol. I'll post it if I ever see it again.

And don't get me started on my love for haunted houses. I was working in them by age 8 as a demon child. But I also knew that if I really let myself get scared, I'd b banned from watching, playing & going to them lol.

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Hello Retro Gamers! Today I thought I'd dig into my SNES shelf & post 2 random games from there. Donkey Kong Country 2 & F-Zero.
I posted earlier in the week about my history on F-Zero games. Love them! Donkey Kong Country 2 I love but I was late to the game since I only recently started playing it. I was missing out on such a great game for this whole time!!! It is a great title & still fun today.

πŸ‘Ύβ€‹ Today's Throwback Thursday. Retro gamers, here r my Big Birds Hide & Speak and Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout games. These were mine when I was a tot. As a toddler/little kid growing up with Hide & Speak helped me focus and learn a few things. The controls would trigger me though after a while since you could only move the dang bird right even if you pressed left πŸ˜‚β€‹. Birthday Blowout was like a kid version of Mario. I enjoyed it even tho it got a lot of hate by other gamers today. Its good for kids.

I decided to look at a few quick ways to improve the security of a system compared to the baseline most distros provide.

They generally have to strike a balance between usability and security, which means that, depending on your own use case, there are some steps you might want to take to increase how secure your own install is. So, here are a few quick tips I find useful for my own servers and desktops:

Zander,

@mbo77 @thelinuxEXP U could use invidious as well (i use the yewtu.be instance mostly as-needed) , I'd just recommend showing support with buying a coffee or something if u end up using it a lot 4 the same creators 2 show some love. His vids r worth it IMO.
Nick I didn't realize that with peertube since i mostly use that now but it makes sense. I'm gonna owe u a coffee on my next payday πŸ˜‚β€‹.
