Code-Smells caused by "history" are sometimes funny. In one project, we have often this:

variable = otherValue == null ? null : otherValue

instead it can be just this:

variable = otherValue

(Some months ago, the null-check was important because the code was like this:

variable = otherValue == null ? null : otherValue.longValue())

    Etwas Werbung: Meiner Meinung nach (aber ich habe es auch selbstgehostet) ist das Beste für Passwörter:

    • OpenSource
    • Passwörter in Cloud
    • Jedes Gerät hat eine lokale Kopie der Passwörter
    • Können Firmen (oder Schulen) selber hosten
    • Es gibt einen Mechanismus, falls man stirbt o.ä., sodass die Familie Zugriff bekommt

    No, there really isn’t a benefit to using hosted font services. It’s always another dns lookup. It’s always slower than your own site because your own site already resolved. No it isn’t cached from another site already. It is introducing a new point of failure though.

    @mattwilcox Self-hosting is always better, but you are bit wrong.

    The idea behind font-service is the cache. Maybe a page-visitor was already on an other site which uses the same font-url as your site.
    In that case, there will be no DNS lookup because your webbrowser already cached that font.

    But there are more benefits like:

    • Special settings are possible (caching etc)
    • Easier CSP rules
    • Less tracking for your users

    CORS is only necessary when you are hosting fonts and want to access them. Like a CDN-provider. When you are using a CDN, then you have not to worry about CORS.
    You only have to worry about CSP.

    Made a counting cube out of edge-lit acrylic seven-segment digits. Here's a demo where each side counts at a different rate:

    A clear acrylic cube rests on a table. Each side contains seven cutout segments that form a seven-segment display. A skinny LED strip is wrapped around the acrylic pieces such that each one borders the LED strip on one side. The cube is Illuminated and each side starts to display the digits advancing from zero to nine at different counting rates. Every time a side reaches zero, the Illuminated color of that side changes to a different color of the rainbow.

    Das ist ein System, welches sich auf einem betreiben lässt.
    Also ohne das Gateway von Philips, welches nach Hause telefoniert.

    Abgesehen vom Gateway sind alle Lampen von Hue datensparsam und ohne Cloud. Ein Hoch auf .

    Aufgrund der sehr guten Internet-Anbindung, bin ich auch am Planen meine Server im Rechenzentrum aufzugeben und daheim aufzubauen.
