Hey look who it is everybody!

Guess which deadeyed Trump-appointed judge is overseeing Trumps indictments?

It’s Aileen Cannon!

The same ho who obstructed Justice with her antics to save trump from the FBI raid on mar-a-Lago

There were calls to impeach her after the appeals court overturned her order appointing a special master

In fact, the appellate judges said Cannon doesn’t have “the judiciary licence to interfere in an ongoing investigation"

What do you think is gonna happen this time?

The “homeless problem” isn’t getting bad, the wealth hoarding problem is getting bad.

bouriquet,
@bouriquet@mastodon.social avatar

@ryanhoulihan @fcktheworld587 Owning a home comes with not only responsibility to maintain it but also many headaches to maintain it safely, heat it, pay water and sewer bills, massive property taxes, roof repair, painting, property insurance, etc. Not all landlords are irresponsible profit-seeking slumlords. True, some are. One even made it to somehow become a tenant in The Peoples House and almost had to be evicted.

bouriquet,
@bouriquet@mastodon.social avatar

@hosford42 @ryanhoulihan @fcktheworld587 Fair rent that reflects actual costs for housing is only fair.
Price gouging, providing no services or repairs and using supply and demand to justify high rents is not only unfair, it’s dishonest. Some basic necessities like housing, energy and food need to be regulated, but not by greedy politicians.

bouriquet,
@bouriquet@mastodon.social avatar

@ryanhoulihan @hosford42 @fcktheworld587 It’s called rampant capitalism. Not exactly the best out there. But we seem to be stuck with it for a while. Otherwise, things would get quite messy-for everyone. Solving that problem violently doesn’t create anything fair for most: it’s like looting. What do you do to survive peacefully when all the craziness stops?
Just go look at history: violent solutions resulted in dictators, greed and poor distribution of anything.

The loss of access to Twitter data under the new pricing plan was a dire blow to our research at the UW-CIP.

Now being forced to delete the data that dozens of people spent years collecting, curating, and studying—outrageous. It’s like burning lab notebooks, an attack on science for the sake of pure malice.

(UPDATE: it appears that the deletion mandates may not apply to us given our data use, but they are still devastating to the groups affected.)

Biden’s decision to negotiate spending cuts in exchange for a debt ceiling bill pretty much ensures that we will go through this every year (or so) until the fall of America.

Why not take a hard line with the GOP and bring them to the brink.

If this is true, that prime-time Trump infomercial was an even more shameful act of journalistic malpractice on CNN's part than was previously understood.

Allowing audience members to applaud - but not boo or express disapproval - doesn't report the story, it materially alters it. It creates the false impression that Trump and his odious policies and behavior are more popular than they are.

Hanlon's razor — "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" — is very relevant to the apocalypticist BS.

It's not some future "superintelligent" AI maliciously killing people that we should worry about.

It's the poorly trained, not sufficiently understood, impossible to audit "AIs" already killing people (or otherwise fscking lives up) we need to tackle.

Like Biden or don't, but he will be the Dem nominee. The alternative is anything the GOP puts out there, likely Trump.

We are a two-party system right now. That's just how it is. Your choice will be Biden v. Trump or someone as bad or worst than him. So, your choice will be Biden or full-on fascism with the possibility of a GOP president actually pulling off a coup next time.

Don't like Biden? Fine. But don't pretend both candidates are equally bad. That's how we got Trump in the first place.

bouriquet,
@bouriquet@mastodon.social avatar

@dancinyogi Biden or not, the Democratic Party needs to start finding and grooming a future successor. Sure it might be VP Harris, it might be someone else. 4 years, 8 years etc. But we need more than one person in the line of succession. Choice is good. No choice is stagnation, status quo.
We need more.
We demand more.
For the future.

Why is Social Security going broke? Income inequality.

Workers are making less than projected.

Meanwhile, the rich are getting richer — so more and more income escapes the cap on the Social Security payroll tax.

It's just one more way the super-rich don't pay their fair share.

Yet ... on Twitter (yes, of course there), my friend who was really happy & grateful about it, got nasty responses, saying that universal healthcare needs to be abolished, or they need to charge more.
