Yes, that so tired you don’t feel tired feeling. But then you wake up after an unplanned nap. We’ve been here so many times. Head upstairs. Make sure child is engaged in bedtime ritual. Undresss. Get into own bed.

Note to sun. It’s quite alright if you sleep in a few hours tomorrow. No rush.

Didn’t sleep well last night, or the past few nights. Have that zombie feeling. I presume it’s mostly from poor sleep. But I am also aware that sleep issues are often a symptom of unbalance in other areas. It’s one thing to know you’re got issues but without support it can really feel like we’re out in the weeds.

Given the impact this has on so many you would think there would be building pressure for DEA to get this resolved and done with. I guess as long as they get theirs everything is “fine?”

“The Empty Adderall Factory A drugmaker’s feud with the DEA is exacerbating the ADHD meds crisis — at a rate of 600 million missing doses a year.”

o. I am pretty sure I am , I had hints building up here and there, and then we took me out of my context, and I moved 300 miles away, and.. it’s like being off-balance every time I leave the house. Sometimes even inside the house. The question is what the fuck do I do about this?

btaroli,
@btaroli@federate.social avatar

@splott I always feel some sense of disconnection with the world around me, but I find it important to have spaces or activities to help be recharge/recenter/regroup. 🧵1/2 About 10 minutes away from parent teacher conference. There will be 8-10 people reading from their report over the 30 minute length of the meeting.

I’ve decided that I’ll zoom from my phone so I can’t possibly read along. No, feel free to read it as you intended. If you want to save time, listen to my repeated requests that you email a copy at least a day before. That is all. Suffer away.

@actuallyautistic

btaroli,
@btaroli@federate.social avatar

🧵2/2 So the plan went as expected. They were caught off guard because I wasn’t reading while they stared. They were equally confused when I had almost zero questions for them. Nah, I’ll take my time and write up a novel once I read the report. Save us all time and email the report BEFOREHAND.

Messing with and their rando expectations is sometimes real fun. My husband had a smirk the entire time. I’d warned him in advance.

Yea, parents can be too! 🤣

I came to my #actuallyautistic self-realization via #HSP. I've always been sensitive to people's energy. I'm not always able to decipher it but I pick up on it and feel it and have always been suspicious of people. Which has fed into my low self-esteem. I mean, I think I'm awesome and that they are all wrong. But I still feel it and then I ruminate.

btaroli,
@btaroli@federate.social avatar

@sebwhatever My biggest struggles with self-esteem arise from my discord in social situations and overactive thought processes. So I #filter / #mask to avoid/inhibit experiencing these. Sometimes this takes the form of #avoidance of people and situations altogether. I don’t know I’ll ever find a happy medium. I do enjoy being able to talk about these challenges and comparing notes with others. It helps to know we’re not alone.

We are closer to shipping Ivory v1.9! The big feature for this release is the ability to quote posts. If you'd like to test it out, jump back on the TestFlight version of Ivory. We've opened up some more TestFlight beta slots here as well:

https://testflight.apple.com/join/AOOy02ZU

Important Note!
The TestFlight version of Ivory doesn't use your active App Store subscription. You have to subscribe again in TestFlight. You do not get charged real money in TestFlight. It's for testing purposes only.

btaroli,
@btaroli@federate.social avatar

@ivory so exciting! I’m not sure I’ll use quotes much, since mastodon is all about social engagement…. But nice to have as an option.

Managed to snag a testing slot too. Exciting. Off to do testing.

Yep, the social oppression is upon us once again. I lately ignore it. My son is unable to escape it at school though. Teacher sent email to parents indicating students would need to make one for every student, lest anyone be left out, but they can’t provide us a list due to privacy. So please produce X cards with “class peer” as the name! How awfully useless!

Son decides he hasn’t the spoons for X generic cards. 👍👍👍

(1/4) I don't really consider myself old per se, but I'll be 50 in a year and a half so I'm not exactly young either. There are so many things that have changed since I was a kid. I see so many ways in which life is better but also so many ways in which today's kids in public school have been robbed. There are classes I had that no longer exist in the US public school system anymore like wood shop or home economics.

btaroli,
@btaroli@federate.social avatar

@monkeyninja This trend away from trades and skills, in preference to Tech Bro IPO and standardized testing as a measure of success, has had some tremendous impacts on society and the economy. And in circles there are opportunities for success lost when youth don’t have avenues for success that aren’t part of hegemony. Bring back skills and trades!! We need them! @actuallyautistic @actuallyadhd

A couple of months ago, I read something on here that quite literally changed my life. It sent me on an unexpected journey of self-discovery that continues to this day. When you’re 54, you don’t expect too many surprises about who you are. But when I read a thread on here about being autistic, something just clicked. So I went down the rabbit hole, read a bunch of articles, did some self-evaluations, and came to the inescapable conclusion that I am autistic.

What is the one thing your younger self would not believe about life in the year 2024?

For me, it would be that he’d have figured out why people and social stuff is hard, and that it wasn’t the thing he thought it was then. Runner up is he’d be married to a man and have a kid.

Which flavor of is inability to feel belonging to any group? I think, I finally got why I don’t get that thing. Basically, a gender is just another cohort, with some assumed properties. A group one feels belonging to. And I have never felt as a part of any group. I never fit in. Each cohort is supposed to have certain properties, and I just never have all. I just feel like impostor in any, including any gender/sexuality groups, including

btaroli,
@btaroli@federate.social avatar

@olena I would associate that with being and I think it’s partly why I consider my from a physiological standpoint. When I consider it from a social and sexual perspective, there’s a lot more ambiguity. Is this due to my difficulty with constructs or a connection with them I don’t ? This results in a loop I have to terminate and then tend to avoid. I accept others’ gender expression at face value but I default to . @actuallyautistic
