Poor Kelly. We had a couple of men servicing the HVAC, which meant they were talking in the hallway outside my closed office door. Even though Kelly was safely inside my office, the sound of the mens’ voices was enough to scare him. He hid amongst the office supplies on the highest shelf in my room and wouldn’t come down until well after they left.

The big raven continues to come around at random intervals. The smaller raven has never worked up the nerve to come down from the neighbor’s roof. The big raven has become comfortable enough that today she sat on the rock fountain to eat a few peanuts before grabbing one and taking off with it.

Days earlier, I tried getting photos of the raven, but she was hyper aware of me and I wasn’t able to get much.

It looks like we may have been feeding two strays. Late yesterday afternoon, we found a lovely, little dilute-gray tabby girl eating from the food bowl. She was sweet, friendly, and affectionate. She ate while we petted her, hungry, but not with the kind of desperate hunger Obi has. I would estimate her to be around ten months old.

One night, I woke to the sound of a cat making the “I’m about to go into battle” yowl, followed by the sounds of a brief cat fight.

We looked at Obi (the orange tabby stray) as carefully as we could when he showed up the next morning, but if he was in a fight, there was no sign of it.

Today, he let me pet him the entire time he was eating the gooshy food, and even let me pet him a couple of times after he was done and looking up at me. Baby steps of progress.

You can't unionize part of your workers. You have to unionize all of them otherwise you have no collective bargaining power and will just get fired. We saw this with the actor/writers strike. They were all unionized so they had power. This is a slight simplification, but not much of one.

We continue to feed the fluffy orange tabby. I started out calling him Mr. Peaches because he reminded me of a big fluffy peach, but Randy always calls him Orange Boy. Orange Boy became shortened to OB, and that evolved into Obi, as in Obi-Wan.
