Y'all might enjoy this: I've been working on a SimCity 2000 playthrough series on #PeerTube and had to quit a while back due to problems streaming with OBS, but lo and behold we are back.
Getting some grinding and decoration done on Bahaicraft today, and musing aloud about @Mrfunkedude's comments on his recent #PeerTube interview, and about decentralized tech in general.
Thinking of starting a new channel to read #CreativeCommons children's stories. Considering trying another #PeerTube server besides #DiodeZone though, to avoid diluting its timeline with non-maker/non-electronics content. #ShareTube looks good and safe but registrations are invite-only. Anyone care to put in a good word? #bookstodon
Edit: Hmm, although it seems share.tube's admin is, er, away from social media?
For all the #UI, #UX, and #Design folks who are interested in supporting projects on the #Fediverse, watch this space. Hopefully I (and others) will have something nice to share with you by tomorrow!
Crossing this one off my "I've always wanted to do this" list: I got my fourteen-year-old single-player #Minecraft world running on a private Bukkit server so I could run DynMap (the dynamic map that you've seen on Bahaicraft videos). Finally, we can see the world in its fullest, most discontinuous glory.
If you're interested in #weather in the Western Pacific, you can now follow @himawari_wpac, a new bot that regularly posts from a cycle of satellite pictures covering #Japan / #Korea, #TootSEA, and #ANZ and the #SouthPacific among others, all gathered in more-or-less real-time from the Himawari family of satellites (JMA, NOAA/NESDIS, CSU/CIRA).
Another playthrough of #SimAnt's Full Game to mark #MyrmecologyMonday, in which we give the red ants five minutes' grace to start the game—making things much more interesting.
CW: You should skip this series if you have a fear or phobia of ants or spiders.
Got a nice, clean stream on Bahaicraft with very little lag. We checked out the new sorting system and took a walk down the new nether road. Oh, and the lilDudes and friends popped in for fun too.
Still just a single-user app for the time being—and that's on purpose so that we can get federation and community safety right—but the basics are slowly coming together.
So, supposing that the rumours are true and Google eventually manages to lock down the web and ban adblockers ad infinitum, y'all know that #gemini is a thing, right? 🤔
Hey @compost and #compostodon, what do you know about composting with snails? Our little compost box often gets infested with snails, particularly during wet weather. I've been impressed with the quality of the soil that's come out of the box lately, though, and have been allowing some of the snails to stay, while culling the excess to feed to the neighbourhood chickens. I knew about worm composting already, but was surprised to see how much benefit snails seem to bring to our pile.
I found and forked a repo for a kbin #bot, and created a clone of @lol that runs on #kbin: meet @MegaHAL. I haven't gotten the bot to learn from on-site posts yet, because the code scrapes HTML from kbin in the absence of a working site API, which is hard to parse. The original repo owner is almost done with a basic #API, though, so that may change very soon. Watch this space. #bots#chatBots#botMakers
All right, I'm pretty proud of this one. Welcome to the first installment of SimAnt: The series, in which we stream the full game of #SimAnt and discover the endlessly fascinating world of ants.
CW: You should skip this series if you have a fear or phobia of ants or spiders.
I was going to play some #SimAnt or #SimCity this weekend to celebrate #MARCHintosh, but now I'm thinking I may just do an evening #HyperCard dev stream to show off the #zine I've been working on (slowly).
