@michaelsteeber great write up! Had forgotten about the pop-up era. If these were used to prototype merchandising strategies, I wonder if they also made a business case for the eventual permanent retail stores, given the high cost of real estate in those areas. (“We can sell enough here to justify the expense”)
You can make posts appear on your Mastodon account at specific times using the post scheduling feature.
Scheduling isn't in the official apps or web interface, but it is available through third party apps such as Tusky and Fedilab, and through third party websites like https://plan.fedilab.app and https://buffer.com/mastodon
The feature is built into Mastodon, but for some unknown reason there's no official interface for it yet. That's why it is only available through third parties.
Unions matter—to every worker, not just their members. Assaults on entertainment unions aren't isolated; they hint at a broader union-busting agenda.
No matter what execs say, the real inflation culprit isn’t wages. It's corporate leadership chasing profits and hoarding wealth in boardrooms and Wall Street.
#PublicHealth guru by day, meme connoisseur and #cat whisperer by night. Used to ticket parked cars, now I explore #urban landscapes and #Apple updates. I might boost more than I toot, but when I do, I hope it’s profound, funny, or intriguing. #introduction
Some truth: I’m a news and information whore. I can’t get enough news in one day. I can’t learn enough things in one day. I can’t scroll fast enough in one day.
I like algorithmic timeline. When it’s done well, it first surface the trending and breaking news stuff I’m interested in and then transition to my following.
And to be honest, it seems like Threads is working like that.
I dearly miss this kind of feed on Mastodon but I’m sure it’ll happen as an option.
The digest approach by @MattHodges and @adamghill works really well for me. @mauforonda complemented that with an auto-bookmarking feature. Since these are python scripts could run locally on desktop, is there a way to adapt for mobile in Swift or CoreML?
Also, I’m curious how @mammoth managed a local “For You” feed. I’d like to be able to understand the scoring settings.
I recognize this is a very long shot, but weirder things have worked out. Does anyone have any photographs from Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla, or Palmer, Alaska taken between late 2001 to mid 2002 that might include lamp posts?
I know this is weird as hell, but there is a reason, I swear. I really appreciate the help and the boosts!
@xgranade@nul I remember when the first Street View vehicles showed up in AK. It was well after the rest of the Lower 48 had been scanned, and Mead Treadwell (interestingly) advocated to Google to get them up here.
I wrote about why #DX12 support and the #GamePortingToolkit is the biggest thing to happen to gaming on the #Mac in more than 30 years for Inverse! I stad by this -- even if it remains a niche/developer centric tool, the community has already proved that this is a big deal. I hope to see this integrated with Steam for Apple silicon Macs in the fall. https://www.inverse.com/tech/mac-directx-12-game-porting-toolkit-pc-games
The one game I enjoy playing (#citiesskylines ) has a sequel pending, but only with Windows and console support at launch. I hope the timing of the toolkit might mean they consider porting to both Mac and #SteamDeck. I know my M1 Max laptop can handle it.
