I am so glad I made time to watch this in the cinema. I kept dragging my feet to do so for some reason. Probably the best sci fi I have ever seen in a long long long time. Even better than #Dune part 1.
I love how each "culture" has such a distinctive look and feel.
“The idea that women can exist apart from men, that they can have lives and thoughts and preoccupations that do not center on men, is not only difficult to conceive of from within a patriarchal culture—it’s threatening. It strikes right to the heart of male hegemony.”

🇬🇧 I'm going to the #cinema today with my wife to see #Dune2! It’s a shock, because we haven't been to the cinema since our baby was born 😅 But that's not why I'm writing here. Can anyone recommend any verified #recap of the first part of the #movie?
I watched Dune Part 2 yesterday, and I have complicated feels.
On the one hand the movie was spectacular - the soundtrack, the scenery, the story - all brilliant. And how they shot the desert scenes, and geidi prime, perfection.
But perhaps it was because I had already entered the movie in a dark mood, but I found most of the movie horrifying. I found myself, on several occasions, wincing, and uncomfortably shifting around in my seat. The scale and intensity of the violence, death and destruction was difficult to process.
I generally enjoy movies mucking around with my emotions - I get to engage with the movie on a whole new level when it happens, but geez, this movie took me to dark places that I wasn't expecting nor comfortable with.
Tldr; spectacular yet horrifyingly dark - 5 out of 5 black suns.

But we all love movies, don't we?

Now that #Dune2 is already out, having missed the remake of #Dune: Part One due to #Pandemic, I'm reminded of the original Dune movie. It is definitely one of the best #SciFi movies of all times (if you have read the original saga 😉.)
Its relevance has even increased:
foreign invasion and domination, guerilla warfare + religious wars, #desertification,...
Imagine creating a critically acclaimed big budget #SciFi sequel to a beloved film that earns a quarter billion dollars and following it up with 2 more increasingly successful and acclaimed films.
Then imagine someone coming at you with this #ScreenRant take.
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
I’m in the cinema with drink and popcorn. Ready to watch Dune part 2. Very small audience. There is are only a handful of other people in here! #scifi#dune2
