Elon was once explaining to eager fanboys how The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was really about the conviction one needs to find out the answer to the final question about life, the universe, and everything…

No-one batted an eye! 🫣

This morning I was reminded of a problem I once had getting a run of screen printed t-shirts in the 1990s.

At the time, I was the merchandise officer for ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha, the fan club.

We decided to do a limited run of black Disaster Area t-shirts, with black print (makes perfect sense if you've read the books).

We got artwork and I sent off the order. I added a note making it very clear that we wanted black print on black t-shirts. I added that we knew

'People had always dreamed of a unified world. We thought it would be a richer one. It wasn't. It meant that the Eskimo got educated and learned cost accountancy, but it didn't mean that the German learned to hunt whales with a spear. It meant everyone learned how to press buttons, and no one remembered how to dive for pearls.' (pub. 1981!)

Finally got around to watching the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I didn't realize that it's from 2005 already, jeez.

It's not 100% according to the books but close enough and very enjoyable. It's silly, it's goofy, it's just outright stupid. Just like the books.

It is a nice complete story from start to finish. And Marvin desperately needs a positivity-chip.

Taking a brief break from our marathon for the next few weeks.

Partly because after Logopolis aired there was a break of about a year before the next story, Castrovalva, but mostly because during that break the BBC aired some of my favourite science fiction serials of all time.

Cishet half-white male, recently turned 50. Software dev, main project is web/database for radio and TV stations (think Nielsen ratings but for ad dollars).
