My friend is performing an awesome dance piece this weekend, co-created with their mom. And my other friend is doing the music!!!! Please support them and let's sell out all dates. I've only been staggered by Melissa's creations and I'm looking forward to being un-moored by this one. Asian-American dance at it's finest. #SanFrancisco

"I'm so angry at Biden over Isreal/Gaza that I'm going to help Trump destroy democracy, weaponize the Justice system, send millions to deportation camps, lower the taxes on the wealthy and shift the burden to the middle class, cut Social Security, track and prosecute women having abortions, pardon the people who violently attacked Capitol police, dismantle NATO, help Russia, AND ON TOP OF ALL THAT do even more harm to Palestinians" is a take--it's just a really awful take, IMO.

kzodasnowman,
@kzodasnowman@spore.social avatar

@augieray hey man, I really appreciate your COVID safety posts and find it surprising that your normal care and analysis is missing here. Why does the agency and blame get assigned to voters against genocide rather than the most powerful elected leader in the world?

kzodasnowman,
@kzodasnowman@spore.social avatar

@augieray I'd invite you to examine the flattening effect of your statement. I care about children not getting murdered, especially as a descendant of genocide survivors. Anti-genocide, for ceasefire, is ~80% popular in the dem party. Biden can stop it all with a phone call, he literally has done it to Netanyahu before. This is the easiest slam dunk of real world action and successful electoral strategy.

Recently I read a book about the Chinese community in and around Sacramento. Many of them huddled in smaller, less urban areas because of anti-Chinese violence in San Francisco Chinatown; as well as to flee white supremacists who killed them, at various points throughout the late 19th and early 20th century.

That gives me more perspectives when I read stories like these.

@pluralistic I have a fun mystery for the Cory-nauts.

Don Joyce of Negativland liked to tape Art Bell. I found a show where Art is talking to Whitley Streiber (“Communion”) and taking calls when something strange happens: every 45 seconds, they start hearing a phone auto-dialer.

Art is flummoxed: “Somebody's breaking in on our line…this last half hour is the most puzzling I've ever done on radio.”

I checked the phone tones and the number is: 1-800-468-3445

When Googled, there are no results.

@garygouldsberry @SidFudd @pluralistic I mean, the Fediverse is the most likely place to find a Negativeland-head. Both require arcane rituals and esoteric appreciation to enjoy. I got to see them play in 2017 or so in Oakland. The whole set was done on a machine of lights, cables, and tubes that looked straight out of a steam punk pulp.

We are thinking hard about the non-profit we want to start to fund #sfba services. (After OCF’s shutdown announcement this has become our number one priority.)

If you know of online communities that run such a model successfully, please give us a hint!

If you have ideas about things to consider when planning non-profit memberships, governance, votings, etc. please tell!

We want to keep overhead low, so we can focus on our community and don’t get buried in bureaucracy. We want to continue focusing on the San Francisco Bay Area.

Independently, advocates, researchers, and clinicians also reported seeing an increase in the number of people who have developed after a second or third infection

@inquiline And it's some pretty simple misses (to my mind at least) that she faltered on! People are testing less and reporting less so of course people are gonna think "ah it's just some cough I've had for 2 months" and not Long Covid. And sewer testing remains high. SMDH!

Addressing indoor air quality saves lives and helps us achieve at work, in school, and in self-governance.

Brain function declines by 15% as CO2 levels hit 945ppm, and by 50% at 1400ppm.

Have you ever measured CO2 at your desk or a contentious City Council meeting? What you find might surprise you!

These scientists recommend mandating clean air in public buildings, with 800ppm as the upper limit. That's good policy: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adl0677

kzodasnowman,
@kzodasnowman@spore.social avatar

@anna @josh Not the perfect fix, but SmartAir has a similar CO2 monitor for 70 dollars. Still expensive but much more affordable.
