A very popular twitter account on news says they are creating a bluesky account, as a sort of just in case outlet:

https://nitter.net/IAPonomarenko/status/1711094024977691085

I just don't get it what takes them so long. Musk openly spreads russian propaganda, mocks Ukrainian people and their struggle, tries to silence them, and Illia is doing this only now, and even then, as a sort of backup account.......... just nuts how strong is the hold to not leave.

Boeing Starliner will not launch before Friday, May 10, and it may push into next week. The issue is a valve that controls liquid oxygen pressure on the upper stage of the rocket. It was humming/oscillating, and they need to examine it to see if it needs to be replaced.

If it doesn't, launch will be no earlier than Friday. If it does need to be replaced (which means the rocket needs to be rolled back), we're likely looking at launch dates into next week.

laimis,
@laimis@mstdn.social avatar

@skrishna have you ever talked or heard anything about the astronauts that got spacex selection vs ones that got starliner? I remember when both projects had that initial conference/announcement and all crews were excited to go. Did anyone from Boeing assignment ever get to switch to spacex ride?

It's always interesting when someone whose politics you think you know supports something unexpected: the NRA member who opposes capital punishment, the socialist who favours free trade, the pro-life feminist. How often are beliefs only found in a set because of a historical coalition, not any deeper principle? Do you hold any beliefs at variance with your political in-group?

laimis,
@laimis@mstdn.social avatar

@mpjgregoire I think I lean conservative and in US often sided with republicans. But I am pro choice, and being an immigrant, don't consider immigration as the root of all evil. Trump arrival made supporting republicans impossible...

Well this was a pretty interesting read: https://mastodon.sdf.org/@joeo10/110968327522069461

That's a lot of red flags in the linked post re: financial oversight over Tusky's donations.

Oh sweet sweet post search in 4.2... one common issue I had before was not being able to find my own posts. I just used it this morning. I needed to get to one of my posts from last night as someone commented on it and I wanted to reply to them. Before, I would have to go to my timeline to scroll, or scroll through notifications. Now, found the post via search instantly and continued with the conversation. Feels good 😌

I didn't think Kyrie was capable of getting his shit together and start playing at his level consistently again. I was proven wrong.

It's amazing what happens when you stop native american incense burning and other bullshit antics. He used to be my favorite player until he stopped playing basketball and decided to educate the world on society issues, and failed miserably. Maybe he is mentally right again.

@Tim_Eagon lol I am afraid Kyrie is deep down envious of Aaron Rodgers "scientific thinking" approach.

The have been absolutely nuts this month. I have been so used to at most one month run followed by a drubbing and instead it has been a relentless move up for two months now.

The push higher is slowing down, but it's still going on. I watch a relatively large universe of stocks, and this morning there was across the board gap up. They are getting smaller in size, but still, moving.

I already have had a record month, and still majority of the positions are open.

I'm back from the cruise and I see the didn't do anything of major interest. That's nice.

A good time was had by all on the trip. I kept my expectations low, but man, they were exceeded. There was so much to do on the ship, I could easily spend another week on it.

I snapped this photo when my wife and I went on a hike on Catalina Island while the kids stayed on the ship in the kids' watch areas they had there.

The life is over, and it's back to reality.

It was really sad to leave Cabo, we had a blast for sure. Met some cool people, saw some cool things, relaxed a ton.

Whenever I travel now I am almost amazed how connected and easy everything is. Anything you want, anywhere you want it, just make sure you have a wallet with you.

Anywho, back at it now. It will be good to dive into the markets and some code when kids go back to school on Monday.

just ran into this youtube channel the other day that is so ridiculous: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRIQM-CUkxVazVPv980YZsw/videos

The thumbnails, the videos, DOOM and GLOOM, he has been dooming for YEARS, 5 to be exact.

I saw one from two years ago where he was saying "prepare to go hungry", and similar nonsense.

I just don't get it how people get to this insane level. But I guess it makes some money for him? I don't know enough about youtube monetization to know for sure

My different take on

Not all things are meant to last forever. Their impact was HUGE to developer space. It made programming so much easier and the model worked for over a decade plus! An incredible place to go learn and find answers when you ran into some most ridiculous problems at work.

Now, their traffic has been dying. They didn't jump to AI, they tried to resist it. But developers left them, and have been leaving them. What are they supposed to do? lay down and die?
