We have a guest over the past couple of days and he often like to watch stuff like "ghost hunters" and such and he thinks it is for real :blobcatgiggle:

I'm trying soooo hard to keep my mouth just shut and not burst his bubble but it's getting harder every day :catblush:

@stux Honestly, if your website is so fragile (dynamic, uncached) that it can't handle a few hundred request in a short time, you should redesign it. Or use a more static way of serving it.

To celebrate a one year anniversary of my blog post "A netizenโ€™s guide to Mastodon and the fediverse" [1], I'd like to rerun one of the polls [2] from the article:

Have you ever made a donation to a fediverse server admin?

@stefan "No I run my own"... But yes, people should toss some coin to their instance admins

lieter,
@lieter@mastodon.lieter.nl avatar

@stefan I had not thought about it that way. I guess I should make a list of which instances I follow the most from....

    Anyone else seeing random DNS lookup failures from systemd-resolved in ?

    e.g., if you run:

    dig kittens.small-web.org

    (Random SERVFAIL errors.)

    or

    resolvectl --no-pager status; resolvectl query kittens.small-web.org

    (Random โ€œ'kittens.small-web.org' does not have any RR of the requested typeโ€ and SERVFAIL errors. Calls reportedly routed from stub at 127.0.0.53 โ†’ my router. DNS on router set to 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1)

    Itโ€™s always DNSโ€ฆ :neko_roling_eyes:

    @lieter@mastodon.lieter.nl avatar

    @aral DNSVIZ reports no issues: https://dnsviz.net/d/kittens.small-web.org/ZVY34g/dnssec/

    You could try to send SIGUSR1 to resolved when the failure occurs, that makes resolved dump info on its upstreams.

    You could also enable tracing in systemd-resolved to see if the problem is systemd-resolved or further upstream. Tracing can be enabled by creating a service override and restarting systemd-resolved.
