@LaF0rge Interesting video. My first PC was made by telenorma. A 286 with a floppy drive and a very loud keyboard.
Sadly I cannot find any information about it on the internet.

@LaF0rge I cannot stop thinking about how strange it is that certain technical stuff didn’t find its way into the internet. It’s quite sad to be honest.

In two weeks I’ll have the chance to talk to the folk who got me this PC in the 90s when they worked at TN. Maybe they have a handbook or a picture of the it. That would be cool.

The Nerves project is quite impressive. Installing their livebook project to an ancient raspberry pi 3 took less than five minutes and it just works.

The OS looks like a linux with most of the tools replaced by or components.

Vor vielen Jahren, um die Jahrtausendwende herum, kam ein Freund und Arbeitskollege in Kiel zu mir und sagte:

Hier, das kaufst Du jetzt.

"Das" war ein Schneider Prime Timer, ein Harddisk-Recorder für das Fernsehen. Eine Kiste ein wenig kleiner als ein VHS-Recorder mit einer HDD drin und einen wirklich guten User-Interface.

Das Teil saugte sich ein Programm in den Speicher und man sagte dem "Diese Serie bitte" oder "von dem da immer die neusten 3 Folgen" und dann hat es das gemacht.

@isotopp Hast du auf dem LG mal ein Update der Firmware mittels USB gemacht?
Die Anleitung kommt als “.doc” mit und sieht genau so aus, wie man es sich vorstellt.

Wenn ich das sehe, läuft mir kalter Schweiß den Rücken runter.
Hat bisher aber noch keine Probleme gemacht. 🤞

I was hyped to go for a run today to see how I can handle -4 degrees (which apparently feels like -8).

When I woke up I could barely walk because my calves hurt so bad and nearly decided against .
Then I ran my fastest 10k so far.

Ich habe das beim Lesen eines .gitlab-ci.yml Files gelernt.

Und ihr wundert Euch, wieso Sysadmins alle Schwarz tragen und an Whisky interessiert sind.

What options are there to regularly move snapshots to a remote target that does not run ZFS?

zfs send feels clumsy. zfs-autobackup and zrepl do not support non-ZFS targets. What's left?

There's an amazing firmware hack for Wyze cameras that largely works by just LD_PRELOADing into the vendor binary and it has support for firing motion detection events by hooking the "Draw a green rectangle" function because that's only called when motion is detected and I think that's beautiful: https://github.com/gtxaspec/wz_mini_hacks/wiki/

Was mir an der so gut gefällt: Man kann auch mal den Blick schweifen lassen, während man durch die Innenstadt radelt.

Zu jedem anderen Zeitpunkt erlaubt die dortige Infrastruktur leider kaum einen Fehler.

Ich freue mich schon aufs nächste Jahr.

on the m1 MacBook Air has no issues playing 2180p60 HDR content on youtube. My gaming rig on windows 11 is dropping frames while the video stutters. Both use the same display. 🤷

My 2 cents: After using various Linux distributions for ~15 years I started using FreeBSD two years ago and I do not want to go back.
Sometimes I miss docker but in return I get a very (VERY) simple and robust OS with a documentation that explains basically everything.
