I've spent a total of $40 this past month on charging my car. I feel like that has almost doubled since I got the car in 2019.

It's still better than paying to burn fuel every time I hop in the car.. but energy prices are for sure going up slowly.

As a with an open singup instance, we have to take our personal feelings out of the equation when dealing with issues.

I'm seeing so many admins willy-nilly block entire instances over nonsense. We are providing a service for people, so think about those people first before doing anything drastic.

I hope users demand to know more about their instance admins. Find out if they are trustworthy, if they have a bad temper, if they are fit to handle and manage your account.

I've updated my post to more clearly explain what this change will do.

  1. It does not prevent you from using hashtags inline, as some are worried it would do.

  2. It is entirely a UI change, and each Mastodon interface can choose what to do here.

  3. This only impacts hashtags at the bottom of a post, and attempts to make them more pleasant.

Here's a mock up of how I believe this new setting would change the appearance of posts…

Update: I believe I've figured out the issue. A relay I had set was using an outdated version and sending the wrong number of arguments to sidekiq queue.

For Mastodon 4.1.5 nightly version (main branch).

Changelog:

  • Fix star animation for Safari by adding max-height to status bar
  • Remove font-stack, let Mastodon users decide the font via settings
  • Don't show blank grey URL preview cards if image not found
