jesus god what the fuck is apple pages's booklet printing

it's literally completely, totally fucking wrong and broken. as far as I can tell absolutely nothing about it is actually correct.

did they literally never try this? did they never once try to print a folding booklet and actually try to fold it? not once? BECAUSE YOU CAN'T.

if you're going to print double-sided so you can make a proper folded booklet, you CANNOT PRINT THE FUCKING PAGES TWO UP PER SIDE IN LINEAR ORDER. THAT'S NOT HOW TOPOLOGY WORKS.

not to mention apparently Pages page size and printer paper size are always the same so if you want to make a decent folding booklet you're screwed there too.

did I mention print preview is always wrong? BECAUSE IT IS

The posts will have subject lines in bold followed by the start of an article and the wordpress link, as it's a wordpress instance. The latest I'm seeing below the pinned post is October 22's "gotta go fast" and I've been working with Wordpress to figure out why I'm not seeing anything newer than that, and I've just found out they see newer posts and I don't.

HEY INTERNET!

Anybody know the proper way to test a high-voltage self-discharging capacitor?

(Don't say Mr. Carlson's, it's a fine device but it doesn't test caps like this. Will it show a leak? Yes. That's by design.)

With a regular meter it tests in range and it's correctly self-discharging but all that's at meter voltage which is not exactly this thing's operating range.

(It's from a cabinet-fit microwave. Everything works except the magnetron doesn't actually do anything. I hear the relay click but no zappy. So it's probably that. But I'm not willing to replace that part because that involves breaking radiation containment shields and I don't have a microwave detector.)

Here's an #electronics Hail Mary:

I need 3 Sanyou SRD-S-112DM-F-P relays. They appear to be "Request Quote" unobtainium.

DigiKey has Sanyou SRD-S-112DM-F-11 relays.

Is this functionally the same? Can I use it?

The data sheets don't say what the last part number element means. "Special Parameter Nil Standard type, letter or number special requirements:"

You see this in their other data sheets too.

But our toaster oven is clicking and cutting out one pair of its heating elements. The elements appear to be fine and test fine for resistance so I think actually are fine. Also it sounds like a failing relay and when I open it for testing and reproduce the problem it sounds even more like a dying relay. So.
