On the one hand, Danielle Smith is timing the re-instatement of the Provincial Fuel Tax at the same time that the Carbon Tax is raised, so she can blame all price increases on the Federal government instead of the Provincial government.

What is most disturbing of all however, is the fact that the CPC and the UCP are constantly telling us that multi-billion dollar oil corporations should not pay their own taxes, but should pass the buck to us and make us consumers pay their taxes for them!! /1

ned, (edited )

Both the fuel and carbon taxes are a good thing, skimming off corporate profits made at the expense of all of us, to provide some public revenue to improve infrastructure a bit for our benefit, and redistribute some wealth. The taxation is not the problem. The problem is the oil corporations refusing to pay their own taxes, and the Conservative governments saying, "That's fine, you don't need to pay your share. We'll make sure the people understand that this is THEIR debt to pay, not yours." /2

ned, (edited )

I'm sick and tired of this gaslighting and spin about fuel taxes. Taking away OUR PUBLIC REVENUE is not "saving us money at the pumps". These taxes should take back what is owed to US, the people. Make the 'ing corporations pay their own share out of their own multi-billion dollar PROFITS! Stop letting oil-simping Conservative politicians gaslight people into thinking that we should be paying higher prices because the fuel is taxed!

Paying taxes is a cost of doing business. /3

ned,

And of course, we even get to pay for the millions of dollars spent on disinformation campaigns to gaslight us into accepting higher prices at the pump to pay the taxes on behalf of multi-billion dollar oil corporations who don't want to take those taxes out of their multi-billion dollar profits.

And what about his suggestion to just give it to "the fastest and cheapest bidder"?! 😮 What a fucking moron.

It's senseless stories like these...

I knew he was a con man and an idiot long before he was known in Reality TV, because I read his book. I was into financial self-help, but his was nothing but inane drivel about, "If you want to make lots of money, then just buy lots of property, and they'll make you lots of money". I couldn't believe anybody would think this was worth anything, and couldn't understand why anybody was suggesting that I read Donald J. Trump. Then he went into Reality TV after that, and he was still the same idiot.

So many overlapping holidays this weekend, because Easter was so much earlier than usual and most other holidays have set dates. Easter Sunday fell on Trans Day of Visibility this year, and Easter Monday falls on April Fools.

Just to clarify for some of the bigots out there, nobody "picked" Trans Day of Visibility to fall on Easter Sunday, lol. It's been the same date since 2009. It's Easter that landed on that date this year.

Well, that's Easter I guess!

This is Bibi's definition of "success" and "total victory". Complete annihilation of the Palestinian people. He's said it so many times, when will the world wake up and believe what he says?

While Danielle Smith distracts you by slamming the carbon tax...

...she is raising your taxes by reinstating the 13 cent fuel tax...

...and taking away the tax cut she promised you.

ned,

@micropainter Both these taxes are positive and needs to happen, and there needs to be regulation on these multi-billion dollar corporations to stop them from "passing the buck" to consumers, with the Conservative Party of Canada telling everybody that this is the way it's supposed to be. The CPC and UCP are telling us that they're not supposed to pay their taxes, WE'RE supposed to pay it for them!! THAT is what we need to fight against, not taxation. Make them pay their share!

This is important. One of the requirements for any potential peace talks is for Palestinians to be able to return home without being mowed down by Israeli bullets. These men tried to return home, waving white flags. Israeli forces on the only road shot them dead then buried their bodies with a backhoe loader so that nobody would find them.

There can be no peace unless somebody stands up to Israel.

I have a from a friend on my other socials, Victoria Stevens. She is a trans stylist in and says that due to a gap in pay and the bank being stupid, they are far from keeping the lights on and paying rent in the salon, plus there are plumbing issues in the salon to deal with.

It really sucks in this world of privatized tiered healthcare that you can spend months getting tested for a clear diagnosis of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, spend weeks testing for treatment, which produces perfect results in treating your condition (went from collapsed airways reducing oxygen levels from 95% to 78%, 32 times/hr to 3.2 times/hr. Over 29 is severe OSA, under 5 is normal), only to be told that insurance won't direct bill so I need to float $2,400 and lose $480 of it or no cure for me.

"Like a business" simply means to exploit for gain. A government's gain is supposed to be for the people. Taking away from the people to concentrate profits is the exact opposite of what a government is meant to do.

Honest answer.

#abpoli

ned,

@chasalin

I've been diagnosed with severe obsteuctive sleep apnea and did a cpap trial to learn that the CPAP machine will completely cure my OSA, at least as long as I continue to treat it.

A lot of good that does me when my insurance wants me to pay $2,400 upfront, before they can reimburse me 80%, leaving me with nearly $500 uncovered at all.

$2,400 is simply impossible for me to come up with, so it doesn't matter that they have a definitive treatment, there is no cure for me.
