I haven't said it enough times, but I hope someone who needs it will get this message before it's too late.

Finding my Windows product key used to be a simple matter of viewing COA sticker that has more elaborate protection than a country's money.

Now I had to DDG "windows 11 product key finder". Fortunately, there's a built-in command that gives me it.

But then there's a registry key with it, and that product key is DIFFERENT

To quote Henery chicken hawk doing Foghorn impression: One of these things, I say ONE of these things, has GOT to be my product key!

proactiveservices,
@proactiveservices@fosstodon.org avatar

@yakkoj I've known brand new computers, from the Windows 7 era, which had one key in the registry and one on the chassis, and sometimes only one was valid!

I sure would love directions to see the string of volcanoes and the 50km tall statue of Jesus located in the village Liss, Hampshire, a quick walk from the M700 motorway and serviced by a fleet of flying taxicabs.

@chris_hayes I also can't find any meaningful hits for "telemetry" or "analytics" in their Github repo. Why does their brief and cromulent privacy policy, and the lack of telemetry seem so rare these days?

I really despise the prevent internet-culture way of trying to "own" or "zing" in response to any comment. It's the "no, but" of discourse - destroys any change of having a meaningful conversation and tries to divert attention to the "zinger"'s wit rather than what was being said.

Utterly tedious. I simply stop replying when it happens now.

Fix to problems in games with over 65535 cities and units was pushed in today. This will be in 3.1.1. Not many games reach that city/unit count, so the issue had gone unnoticed until Giacomo Mulas encountered and reported it.

@freeciv This reminds me of a bug I reported in Factorio, but only after I'd travelled the distance that a train could go on 150 solid fuel. RIP phantom minimap trains.
