We're not, I know, living on a timeline where science actually matters, but I gotta say this anyway.

Every serious study of the economic impact of immigration has the same conclusion: "immigration has a net-positive effect on the economy". Most of them go further than that, citing non-economic positive effects.

Leaving one's homeland is just not a thing stupid, lazy, cowardly, or ignorant people do.

The "border crisis" has a shorter name. That name is "racism".

@GeePawHill it boggles my mind that countries are suffering these birthrate crises and trying everything to convince more people to start families, while at the same time immigrants are banging at the door and being kept out.

@objectinspace @jscholes @matt @acarson @tristan I have to say that from experience, I know there are devs that are so short on time and kept too busy to really become aware of the extent to which the stuff they're making is inaccessible.

Yes there are lots that don't care, but there are so very many others who just haven't been allowed the time to go in and fix stuff, or to understand what needs fixing. With a good leadership, that time came be allocated and things can start turning. But yeah.

Languages are silly.

These may not be the direct translations, but are what is more commonly used for the same thing - I find it funny when a language uses a loanword from another language, that the latter doesn't actually use for that thing:

English: smorgasbord (from Swedish smörgåsbord)
Swedish: buffé

American: foosball (from German Fußball)
German: Kicker

English: Diet Coke
European: Cola Light

...I bet you have more?

Still works great, apart from a few bits of parsing not working so well. I have put more work into the RSS/Atom parsing in the static version, and they don't work quite the same way so I can't just copy and paste.

Some links are missing, and possibly some of the posts won't be the most recent ones...

Either way, it's kind of fun to have a server side and client side version going at once :)

Like if I think about (British) english accents, I can quickly think of (and will probably insult people by getting them wrong):

Cockney
Brummie
West Country
Scouse (different to the softer Beatles-style Liverpudlian)
Geordie
Mancunian
Norfolk/Suffolk ("farmer" accent, a bit like West Country)
Yorkshire (of which there are definitely sub-dialects)
Home counties (often considered
the non-accent)

I think the GOV web site is actually pretty cool (from a content access POV), and it's great they blog about what's what, but I'm also a nitpick, so immediately the Crown change post stood out to me like this:
