Even when Joe Biden proves he is well up to the task and rigors of being president, the media uses it to bring up his age again, while giving “215 lb” Trump who is already slurring his words and is only 3 years younger than Biden a pass. It’s shameful.

Parallel universes are real! You shall be sent to live in one... forever.

You will get a choice between 5 universes that each have a similar collection of languages though technology & culture may be very, possibly hazardously, different.

To make your choice you may request one (1) kind of typical artifact. This will be fetched from each universe, you may compare to make your choice.

Electronics will be disabled. If the artifact doesn't exist... you get nothing.

What do you request?

    No, Trump was not selling classified documents. His retention and mishandling of those docs was extremely bad, but that's a long way from "he was giving them to Putin" or whatever. That's just silly.

    Even if you think Trump is/was (implausibly) a Russian asset, Intelligence orgs don't want original stolen docs. That's the LAST thing they want someone to take. That means someone will likely figure out they're missing. Which makes the information in them MUCH less valuable.

    tlariv,
    @tlariv@mastodon.cloud avatar

    @mattblaze
    ... and also now that he knew that he could no longer declassify documents (whether the papers he was waving around really were plans for an invasion or were printouts of invoices he had no intention of paying). Let's not gild the liliy.

    My husband had this tradition at his old job as a journalist where if they had to work a long night on the way out they delivered "the parting shots" things you can say that sound good on the surface... until you think about it.

    "Bill? This has been a day I won't forget easily."
    "Sarah? You really wrote one of the articles of all time."
    "Jake? Tremendous effort tonight."
    "It was a crazy night, and whenever it was at its worst? Well you were right there."

    etc.

    Do you have a "parting shot?"

    For a long time I thought that a certain Smashing Pumpkins lyric — "Today is the greatest day I've ever known" —changed in a later verse to "Today is the greatest day available", and I've hated Billy Corgan ever since I found out it was just a straight repeat.

    NEWS: The Mississippi Free Press just asked a court to hold that the Legislature is a "public body" under the law and that the MS House GOP Caucus must stop holding secret closed-door meetings and make them open to the public under state transparency laws.

    Last year, the Ethics Commission said the Legislature is not a "public body."

    I feel uncomfortable with the 14th amendment idea. I understand all of the arguments, but it leaves random state officials and courts making a value judgement. An obvious one in this case.

    But will we see a candidate stripped from ballot in the future because she protested against a war and got arrested in the process?

    That said. Trump's fans will simply write him in. Which seems fine to me. That's going to work out so well for them.

    Today marks 20 years that @micheleann and I have lived in Montreal.

    We rolled into town in our Citroën DS in 2003. The streets were empty for St. Jean. We had to find our apartment on a paper map, in a poorly documented curve of a street in the McGill ghetto.

    It's been a great 20 years. We've put down roots, built businesses, made friends, had kids. We are part of a community in the best city on the planet.
