Can you name a film that was adapted not from a novel, but from a short story?
Here's one:

Something a lot of white folk don't realize happens to Black people a lot:

When there is a competition between a Black person and a white person for a coveted prize, if the white person wins, they're celebrated. If the Black person wins... they're asked to share the prize with the white person that came in second place.😮

This happens to Black women more often than Black men.

Privacy theater is when we use privacy practices to demonstrate intention, even if it doesn't mitigate risk in the wild. For example, why do the Ninja Turtles wear masks? Are there other squads of anthropomorphic turtles with weapons in these streets? What's the point of this? This is keeping me up at night, make it stop

People on Twitter are debating whether a person using uncommon words like "delve" are trying to sound smarter than they are, or worse, are ChatGPT bots, because "normal" people don't talk like that.

You don't have to get upset, or embroiled in the debate. Not worth the time or attention. But I'll share some important context as your friendly neighborhood Nigerian 🙋🏿‍♂️

Many Nigerians have bigger English language vocabularies and better command of grammar than the typical American or English person

Why do they make us do all that extra multiplying for (a+b)^2? FOIL? it's just a bunch of extra work. "show your work" ? I can do it in my head! (a+b)^2 is a^2 + b^2 And that's how it will be with me in charge.

FOIL is a deep state plot to add extra steps to homework!

Suppose you have a number in base 60. Is there anything remarkable or interesting about having a 49 in the 1s place?

Numbers in base 10 such as:

169, 769, 1249, 6649, 12709

tlariv,
@tlariv@mastodon.cloud avatar

@irenes
So in some way like a nine in the ones place in base 10
@futurebird

tlariv,
@tlariv@mastodon.cloud avatar

@irenes
Well, there's a discrepancy between the description of the problem and the examples, but from a number-theoretical viewpoint I'm not sure that it matters

@irenes

@futurebird

@tlariv@mastodon.cloud avatar

@futurebird
Base 60 makes identifying multiples of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, and 30 trivial. That's pretty handy.
