I'm once again reminded why I stopped engaging with the GitHub community.
Me: "I propose idea A"
Maintainer: "Idea A is not acceptable. It will be B"
Me: "I accept it can't be idea A and idea B is closer to what we need, but I think alternative C or D would satisfy both our requirements. B is not a good idea. Could you at least consider it, or give me reasons why idea C or D are still not acceptable?"
Main.: "I'm the maintainer. It will be B. If you don't agree, don't contribute" (PR rejected)
@davidbures I’ll admit I got curious and looked up what this was about. Yow. I have to admit I laughed at the “Homebrew isn’t about discoverability” crack. God forbid it do anything that might actually make it useful to functional humans.
I serve on my HOA and our President just called me and essentially cussed me out because I'm having a Q&A for people who want to run to be on the board because, in her words, "You could have just told people to come to me" and "You didnt ask for anyone else's input" despite the fact that I did and she just never responded to my email about the idea.
@BlackAzizAnansi Ask her to show you where, in the bylaws, you even had to consider talking to her about it. Then check out her property and note any irregularities. There are always some.
@BlackAzizAnansi It’s not a meeting when there’s only one member present. And you sent her an email. You’re a better man than me to put up with this. Hang in there.
@baldur “MBA sociopaths.” Thank you for that. I’ve been grasping for it for years and seeing it almost at feels like validation. (The whole thing is great. But that just leaped out and slapped me and made my day).
I just made a giant batch of chilli purely to use all the tins of beans, and fridge veggies... but I had no Kidney Beans just Cannellini Beans, so is it even a chilli any more?
@andycarolan@Jbasoo So here in the U.S., a controversial chili is “Cincinnati Style” chili. Some people hate it. Others love it. (I love it). The point? The folks who came up with the basic recipe were Macedonian immigrants to Cincinnati. It’s very different from this — very meat-based — but Macedonia comes up in chili conversations more often than you’d think.
Internet, please bid a warm welcome to Miss Saison du Pris, late of Boone County Animal Care and Control and arriving at Beercats Manor likely tomorrow after some last-minute routine tests.
The last picture on the right may well be the moment I became smitten.
@sarajw I’ve seen a couple partials and they’ve been fine, but it wasn’t until my wife pointed out that we lived within an hour of the totality area (and have access to a secluded barn and pasture via a friend) that I was willing to put out any effort. It doesn’t last lomg, but when it goes from 99% occlusion to 100% is breathtaking. I wasn’t prepared. It’s worth trying to see.
@sarajw@zachleat@scott My first thought was to pop that in a search engine to check, and then came to my senses and decided the answer was best assumed ‘no.’
Adds a small rainbow gradient overlay until all of the images nested inside have finished loading. Works best with expensive dynamically generated images (like dynamic screenshot images).
So I have an account over in Bluesky (mostly for baseball stuff, and the Astros in particular). I like it well enough, but I really feel at home over here. It ain’t Highlander. There can be more than one. But holy hell today has been nothing but people looking down their noses at Mastodon for ( as best I can tell) people who dared to say something to them that they perceived as being looked down upon.
@davidbures Mine helpfully informs me it has web results it would be happy to send to my iPhone. I’ve never actually looked to see what they are, mostly because I’m in the process of hurling my iPhone across the room.
Someday I’ll print something without taking a picture of it, but today’s not that day. Needed a place to hang my headphones. So drew it up what I wanted to fit the table I have and printed it up. Psyched. #3dprinting#PrusaMK4
That's twice in two days I've had German people ask me whether I'm Danish, or speaking Danish to my children. I mean... I think I'm just speaking British English?
People have more than once compared my voice and attitude to Sandi Toksvig too. I dunno. It's obvs a vibe I give off somehow.
I know Bastian a little because he created Kirby CMS, which is the web development stack I most enjoy working with. This has nothing to do with technology and everything to with being human. I encourage you to read this. It’s about Germany, but it’s also about everywhere right now. https://bastianallgeier.com/notes/grandpa
