I posted a few weeks ago about how people were leaving empty nitrous cylinders lying around and wondering if they could be reused for something.

Someone left two of them in the gutter of my house last night, so I grabbed them to get a better look at them.

They are heavy steel. The end caps look like they're 1/4" thick. The label on the tanks say they are rated 120 bar working pressure (1740 psi). That's a lot of pressure!

Went out to have a couple drinks tonight with some of wifey's coworkers at this place called the Beer Research Institute, a taproom and arcade. Cool place. Had a couple local IPAs, some of the best nachos I've ever had, nice staff, music was great. I mean they were playing stuff like Descendents, Bad Religion, Misfits, wow. Wasn't expecting it. If you're ever in Phoenix area Arizona, I highly recommend the BRI.

I am looking for troubleshooting ideas for a Centris 650 that not recognizing an Apple PDS PPC Upgrade card.

Other things I have tried so far
PRAM reset
Cleaning PDS slot on the C650 & The upgrade card
Re-Seating it very firmly
Pulling out other NuBus cards
booting into OS 8.1 and reinstalling 7.6.1
Inspected card for damage under magnifying lamp & didn't find anything suspect

Got it sorted with some help figuring out the correct software! Centris 650 booting with the Power PC 601 card as the CPU.

Mac Ports Base 2.9 has been released!
There is a new feature that will not mark a current port outdated if the only change is your macOS version being upgraded. That, in combination with many more ports being available for download on Applesilicon, is making upgrades much faster.

    The more I fuck around with these other OSs, the clearer it is to me just how good macOS is.

    So it‘s a Unix. It has a terminal. It‘s got an excellent graphics system. It‘s got Safari. You have the inimitable MacPorts to pull everything else you need — including GNU coreutils and Emacs — so you don‘t need to know you‘re running Unix.

    And it synchs with your phone!

    @harish strong agree. In addition the now built in virtual machine support is top notch. Solid security improvements may be a little rough around the edges but effective.

    @harish yeah it was rough for a while. Windows 11 ARM on VMware fusion is excellent now. UTM with the macOS naitive frameworks for Linux and macOS work very well. I need to write up the multi arch ubuntu setup I have going with rosetta for Linux.
