Remember the reduction of shows and movies were going to happen anyway, since studios were spending like drunken sailors on projects they mismanaged long before these strikes.

People blaming this on new WGA or SAG rates should be given the side-eye. Many will use this as an excuse, just like the companies that raised prices during the pandemic because they could, not needed to.

Trying to get through the audiobook of "Titus Groan."

Someone told me a lot of the Locked Tomb series owed a debt to the Gormenghast Trilogy.

And I know it's on some 100 best fantasy books of all time, but it's not doing it for me. What am I missing?

I never found the Foundation books compelling, so I'm a bad judge of them compared to the books. I do wonder what people who really love them think about all the changes to the books, like right off the bat.

I’d classify needing to download an airline app to put your credit card in, all before you get on a plane if you want to buy food or drinks on the flight a continuation of the Internet of shit.

This sounds like a terrible idea, just designed to pay less staff. I hate the theater of screenings, but I trust a person to look at me and pass me along more than code.

Tech can't make self-checkout work consistently without choking, now imaging that with 100s of people in a line for something actually important.

Sadly, "Will it get cancelled before there is a satisfying conclusion?" has been a regular part of TV ever since there were shows that were going in any direction.

And the odds have never been good.

Well, this gives me mixed emotions, as Lower Decks is my favorite Star Trek show out there, if I'm pressed.

I don't...just no Apple. This is not the iPad take you want to be known for.

Destroying all these mostly tactile experiences for a tiny screen?

I love my iPad, but no....

Until I hear a really good reason for Texas and California teaming up in Alex Garland's new "Civil War" movie, I'm going to side eye it, much as I like him as a filmmmaker.

Holy crap Cinesync 5 is a resource pig. Tried to do a call with a vendor using it, and it took 80Gigs of RAM and most of my CPU. Couldn't get Zoom to work right with it, and had just finished a session with version 4 that worked perfectly as expected.

Anyone else using this nightmare?

This is a pretty big deal; judge shopping is a nightmare with so many Trump appointed cranks who are hoping to take the government apart.

Now watching "Space is the Place" with Sun Ra. I miss when you used to be able to just stumble upon crazy movies like this on cable. I've never stopped to watch the whole thing though.

It's a miracle it's on Max right now. And even more surprised it got it recommended to me.

I guess the commonalty with "Aniara" is "scifi with a lot of people off the street as extras"

Enjoying this too, for very different reasons.

You know a lovely thing? Is hearing the crew talk lovingly about the cast even when they are nowhere around to hear it.

Because they mean it and it's true.

EVs cost more to build than the big automakers thought, so they kept the prices up and started with higher end models, which only the high end consumer can afford.

That's why sales are slow. Turning into some public indictment of EVs in general is silly.

Anything to attack schools so they can mold them into their conservative-generating wastelands.

Believe it or not, antisemitism isn't the biggest problem with k-12 schools. No Congressional action on any of those things, except to make them worse.
