As a further note re: "English-only", I grew up in Southern Indiana with a half-Kentuckian family. The English I grew up with is not considered "proper" English, but Appalachian dialect preserves an earlier "proper" English and present culture. I code switch in California and Mastodon, but talk very differently around some family. English dialects such as Ebonics, Afro-Carribean, creole, pidgin, etc should also be respected, even if they don't have translation services to the "Queen's English".

Basically what I learned last week is that is on steroids and that is awesome. It also means if you're a hobbyist learning in a self-hosted , much of the concepts carry over in a familiar way to the bigger "enterprise" product (which is also FOSS).

I have to admit that whenever I have weird server problems on Stream, there's always a question of whether or not it's Stream or something else and that lack of certainty usually is just enough that I often might not file an issue for Stream, but also just enough that I second guess running CentOS Stream over in cases where I don't want/need full on . When stuff breaks on AlmaLinux, I'm less likely to question the distro (even though bugs happen everywhere).

I asked ChatGPT and another AI to generate qbsh scripts and even gave it commands like CALC and PIP to incorporate. It clearly had bash in the crunchbang. When I suggested it wasn't qbsh, it apologized, removed that line and told me it was more using correct syntax and not "bash built-ins" and hallucinated qbsh commands that don't exist like GREP. It was pretty hilarious.

I have the real way to prevent backdoors. Never enable sshd on a system and instead go back to the old tried and true method of communicating remotely over physical RS-232 instead.

Got the 2600+ set up this morning. My son is in the living room playing Adventure on it right now on the included cartridge and joystick. It feels very faithful - like having a brand new 2600. So far my only complaint is that they included a USB-C to USB-A cable with no brick in lieu of a charger. Luckily, it seems to have no problem getting power from the dock.

There are no instructions/manuals included which is likely going to cause a bit of confusion for newbies.

My playbook failed because an otherwise legitimate variable input broke the lineinfile regex parser and I couldn't report about it in the PR review, since it broke some kind of validation for issue comments in . is hilarious.

Upgrading this raspberry pi to bookworm has been one of the worst Linux upgrades I've done yet other than the fact that it still, miraculously somehow, booted. Apparently, the bookworm keys weren't trusted by buster and somehow it "upgraded" a bunch of stuff to armhpf (32-bit) instead of arm64, resulting in some not fun broken dependencies. It was quite the foot-shoot over all.

I'm tired of arguing about RHEL stuff for now. There isn't anything left to be said that hasn't been said at this point. Whether or not anyone is listening to what has been said isn't up to me. I'm moving on to using to do cool stuff again. Please don't read any further posting as Red Hat commentary. For now, I'm done comparing company policies on this and that and just want to build stuff that enables others to do cool things, which is what I love most about .

Is there a way in to make the right Super (aka "Windows") key behave like the left one? It would be nice to be able to lock the screen with one hand. Besides, I have zero idea what the "right Super" is even supposed to do on Gnome, because it doesn't obviously do anything except not act like a Super key.

My PRS baby just came out of a successful little surgery with locking tuners and strap locks, and a fresh set of 10-gauge strings. I'm not sure why PRS pushes 9-gauge, but I definitely prefer the 10-gauge on it!

I don't believe IBM directly directed Red Hat to do this with RHEL. There's no evidence of that. However, when IBM bought Red Hat, there was some hope that IBM would culturally become more like Red Hat, but instead the opposite appears to be happening. Red Hat appears to rather be culturally embracing the slowly dying star of IBM, mostly of its own volition.

When I say , I mean anything from Dartmouth up to and including Q/uickBASIC. I do not consider VisualBasic, VB.net, etc, to be BASIC any more than I consider Javascript to be Java. Newer ones in the same spirit - FreeBASIC and qb64, do count, however.

This is my personal opinion and I'm sure many draw the line somewhere else, but when I use that word, it's somewhere in that range (including Atari, Commodore, CP/M, Altair, etc flavors).
