Christian Nationalism is not good. The public schools should be teaching the American history including the formation of the country from the colonists, to the Declaration of Independence, to the revolution against the English monarchy, to the establishment of the Constitution, to the Bill of Rights. There is no place for Christian Nationalism as a thing. The only place for religion is as separate from the American governing principles and rule of law. https://mastodon.social/@br00t4c/112520656709785395

The USA Today article is thorough, exposing people in the US providing guns to the cartels, manufacturers and gun dealers shielded from reporting by US laws, the multitude of guns and the makes provided to the cartels. The good news is that the DOJ does have active cases open and new cases constantly being opened. Worth reading. https://kolektiva.social/@ddosecrets/112509570665824454

    @GhostOnTheHalfShell @academicchatter @economics@a.gup.pe I don’t think the billionaires hate us. It’s more likely they can’t “see” us for their own narcissism. They act from near term financial maximization without caring about societal impacts. It’s all about “what’s in it for me now!”

    Putin’s narcissistic profile is clearly described here. Very destructive to all but himself. The profile also fits the former guy’s similar narcissistic behavior, even as tfg is submissive to Putin. Of the next steps to expect, also fit except that tfg isn’t intelligent enough to understand the impact that nuclear war would cause to his base. They need admirers. Putin understands but tfg can’t think deeply enough. TFG will always be subservient to Putin. Both know it.

Everyone knows he is a liar when his lips are moving, and especially on a video where he is expected to stick to a script (and couldn’t even do that correctly). Now he may try to cover his $464 civil fraud award against him by selling shares of the new company. He didn’t invest anything in the company but owns 80 million shares, currently projected to be worth $3B. The venture has been losing $$ millions. Investors will continue losing money as Trump takes their invested $$ to pay his penalties and lifestyle maintenance, falsifying his projection of success to his working class base.

    The speaker of the house needs to be held accountable for not following the house rules as well as inviting a hate-filled preacher to the house.

    The practice of the invocation should be eliminated to maintain the principle of separation of church and state, to eliminate issues with providing diverse views, and remove the unnecessary expenses related to having an unnecessary invitee into house business.

    Trump brain failures that should be widely known.

    1. Forgets Obama is not Biden
    2. Confuses people with roles and names, switches names and situations
    3. Forgets timelines. So badly believes he didn’t lose the election, believes he was in office and made impacts when he was not involved.
    4. Made up his statement that Mexico would “pay for the wall”. It never did. Trump paid for what work was done. He also wants to use “special forces” to fight drug cartels.
      Part 1 of 2
    wdjorth,
    @wdjorth@mastodon.online avatar

    Part 2 of 2
    5. Confuses people on the international stage. Embarrasses the U.S.
    6. Crazy rants about voter ID needed to buy ‘bread’. Whales wash up on shore because of windmills.
    7. In deposition, confused E. Jean Carroll as his ex-wife.
    8. Didn’t even know where he was when in Sioux City.

    This is what rankles me the worst this week.

    Remember the Mueller report? How we were all waiting on the edge of our seats the day it dropped?

    What did we get? Bill Barr and his bullshit nothing-burger press conference.

    Sure, the next day everyone read it and said WTF? But by then, it was too late, the press (and tRUmp) had their soundbite from Barr and that was it.

    So where the fuck was Garland? It’s bad enough he let a Trump guy do the investigation in the first place. But he should’ve been out there ahead of the public release with a nice, polite “No charges filed, Biden exonerated” soundbite.

    Instead, we get “Feeble old man, bad memory” ad nauseam, even on NPR. The public hasn’t heard from Garland in months, if this wasn’t a good time to step up to the podium, I don’t know what is.

    It wouldn’t have been that hard. Nothing the least bit political about it. I understand his desire not to appear partisan. But letting these assholes play by a completely different set of rules is chickenshit.

    wdjorth,
    @wdjorth@mastodon.online avatar

    @mastodonmigration @markmetz Garland should have made the special prosecutor remove the garbage from the report and required that the report and press release only speak to the legal analysis and finding result. That report is as much his responsibility as Hur’s.

    Apple, true to form, argues against right-to-repair bill that would reduce its control
    Apple says it supports right-to-repair in theory and in its PR material, but testified against a new law in Oregon that would restrict parts pairing, saying that this would hurt its core strategy of planned obsolescence. What's a greedy brand gonna do?
