    @mhzmodels: I may not have the proper view on these things due to missing experience, but just that someone follows someone else does not necessarily mean they're totally into their views. Especially if an admin is following someone it might even mean that they want to keep an eye on their doing on their instance.

    Minor Stable (and Major Stable ๐Ÿ˜‰) releases usually happen on a weekend. And at least in some countries this was a long weekend with May, the 1st being a public holiday. So I think it's totally ok if 11.7 was released at the beginning of the weekend and the announcement mail only happened at the end of the weekend.

    @jon: Die aktuelle Version 3.1.0 DE hat aus meiner Sicht eine Uneindeutigkeit: Das blaue "Bisher bekannt: โ€ฆ"-Feld sagt nicht, wovon die Zรผge Ausnahmen sind. Sind die genannten Zรผge nun im Deutschlandticket alle gรผltig oder alle nicht gรผltig? Denn das Feld, auf das sich dies bezieht, erwรคhnt sowohl "ist enthalten" als auch "ist nicht enthalten".

    Nichtsdestotrotz danke fรผr dieses Diagramm als auch fรผrs regelmรครŸige Pflegen, selbst wenn ich als Auslandsdeutscher so schnell kein D-Ticket brauche.

    In den vier Wohngebieten in meiner Umgebung lรคuft die Nachfragebรผndelung diese Woche aus. Das Interesse liegt in den Wohngebieten zwischen 10 und 23% der Haushalte, kein Gebiet liegt derzeit bei den erforderlichen 33%.

    Glasfaserausbau, Digitalisierung und moderne Infrastruktur in Deutschland hat eben was mit gesellschaftlichem Interesse an diesen Technologien zu tun.

    @kkarhan: Und hier gibt's von mit 25 GBit/s symmetrisch fรผr CHF 64.75 (momentan โ‚ฌ66.13) pro Monat. Nur gibt's kaum brauchbare Hardware dafรผr. Eigentlich nur einen -Router fรผr ca. CHF 700 (mitsamt Optik). Und ob man MikroTik will, ist nochmal 'ne andere Geschichte. Leider gibt's von bisher nichts mit mehr als 2.5 GBit/s. Ist der Hauptgrund, warum ich noch von 1 GBit/s upgegraded habe. ๐Ÿ˜ž ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Has anyone asked 1Password how it intends to comply with EU/UK law, forbidding it from accessing information (anonymised or not) stored on a user's device, for a purpose which is not strictly necessary for the provision of the service, without the user's consent? (Art 5(3) https://www.legislation.gov.uk/eudr/2002/58/article/5)

    Is 1Password claiming that this is "strictly necessary", such that it doesn't need consent?

    So Fedora 38 has chosen to break fgrep and egrep, to the fun of everyone who has them in scripts, especially scripts in crontab entries.

    $ fgrep fred /dev/null
    fgrep: warning: fgrep is obsolescent; using grep -F

    Adding output to standard error is an incompatible change. And this is happening only because the GNU Grep people are <redacted because I cannot think of quite the right phrase>.

    Just noticed that @grunfink's (https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2, Social Networks Are Crap, a simple, instance written in #C โ†’ ) is now available in Experimental: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/snac2

    Never heard of it before, but having a Mastodon-compatible instance packaged in Debian is great. So maybe time for my own instance? ๐Ÿ˜ Will at least toy around with it. The question is on which host. But I suspect my Raspberry Pi running Debian Unstable will do. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    @grunfink: Ok, is now running on my 2 running Unstable at @xtaran. (BTW, who can guess the wordplay in the hostname? ๐Ÿ˜Ž) The host has and is reachable from the Internet by , though. For now I'm just toying around with it, checking how the can look like, too, so don't expect too much from following it for now.

    @grunfink: And since ever I wrote that posting, the snac httpd (version 2.11 in Debian Experimental) on my Pi continues to crash with a segfault after a few seconds. sigh Will try to get a coredump and write a bug report in Debian and hoping for the package being updated to 2.15 soonish as 2.12 and and 2.14 both fix some crashes according to the release notes.

    @grunfink: Yes, still happening. Currently (with me in both accounts being less active) maybe every half hour or so. At least the last crash was half an hour ago, 13:47:20. But before that within 2 minutes: 13:23:56 and 13:24:00. (Now is 14:11.)

    I filed a bug report against 's snac2 package with some debug logs and a backtrace at https://bugs.debian.org/1025873 in case you're interested.

    In case it still happens once the Debian package is upgraded to 2.15, I'll of course provide new backtraces.

    @grunfink: The package of has been updated to version 2.15. So far @xtaran ran 3 hours without issue. But then again, the previous version hadn't crashed for a while either. Let's see if it survives this mentioning. ๐Ÿ˜‰
