Just discovered a new compact(-ish) : The limited MONoPOLE : https://monopole.cc/en/product/no-o1

Its layout reminds me a bit of the , but especially their shopping front rack—which fits two common (Swiss?) shopping bags left and right of the frame's main tube—is something I haven't seen before with a front-top-loader. Also nice: belt steering.

Flat tires have been impacting my riding a lot more than I'd like recently. There is so much glass (mostly pieces of car due to break-ins and pieces of bottles) in the lanes. I'm considering switching tires, adding liners, or maybe even adding sealant.

Q5. How do you (or would you) prevent flat tires from happening?

Ich finde es ja super, dass wir in Österreich eine Förderung für Falträder haben, aber der Prozess ist schon recht aufwändig.
Nach 4 Wochen hab ich eine vorläufige Zusage bekommen und laut Schreiben wird nochmal im Ministerium drüber entschieden und in spätestens 12 Wochen hab ich dann die Förderung.

Ich weiß nicht, ob das nicht zu lange für jemanden ist, der die Förderung braucht, um sich so ein Faltrad überhaupt leisten zu können.

@tehabe: Aus meiner Sicht gibt es nicht nur das Gefühl sondern tut es das auch. Fahre regelmässig im Dunkeln. Noch nie übersehen worden. Wenn ich dazu denke, wieviele Idioten ohne Licht und in dunklen Klamotten (und meist auch noch ohne Helm) ich alleine gestern Abend beinahe übersehen hätte…

@jakob_thoboell: Ja, das kann man auch versuchen, aber davon gibt's sicher mehr, als auf Dich hören. Ich gehe da kein Risiko ein und fahre nicht nur mit StVZO-konformen Glühbirnenfunzeln und den paar wenigen Reflektoren rum, die StVZO vorschreibt. Jedenfalls sehe ich mich als mich selbst verantwortlich, nicht übersehen werden. Das tut niemand anderes.

@jakob_thoboell: Ich habe nirgends gesagt, dass ich Pflichten will. Und die Kampagne geht auch nicht um Pflichten, sondern um das Bewusstsein um die Gefahren.

Die Frage ist doch eher, welche Kampagnen besser funktionieren.

Und "Victim Blaming" ist was ganz was anderes. Es geht hier darum, gar nicht erst zum Opfer zu werden.

@realSiegfried: Übersehen worden bin ich in über 20 Jahren Ganzjahespendeln (5 Jahre Land, 17 Jahre Stadt; oft auch in Dunkelheit) noch nie. Nur ignoriert oder zu langsam eingeschätzt worden.

Insofern habe ich keinerlei Angst, übersehen zu werden. Ich leuchte aber halt auch wie ein Weihnachtsbaum, auch tagsüber.

(Leuchten und reflektieren, nicht blinken! -- Andere Verkehrsteilnehmer sollen schließlich meine Position und Entfernung abschätzen können.)

  1. Bisher nur im Geiste mangels kilometerzählendem Gerät.
  2. Brompton P6RD (im Bild) seit 2007, Brompton H6RD seit 2017.
  3. Das P6RD wurde 2017 (auch wegen nach Sturz auf Glatteis 2016) zum mit fürs heftigere .
  4. 4,2km hin, retour oft mehr; 28 eher steile Höhenmeter hin und mindestens 41 weniger steile Höhenmeter retour.

@frostpendeln: So, nachdem ich jetzt auch wieder was am Velo habe, was Kilometer (und 🌡️) zählt, kann ich dieses Jahr auch mal nominell beim mitmachen. Das sommerliche ist für mich total langweilig, weil einerseits keine der Teamkollegen mit dem Velo kommen (tlw. aber zu Fuß!) und andererseits weil's für mich im Sommer eh selbstverständlich ist. 😎

Never heard of it before your posting, but the Bogbi is indeed intriguing: It kinda has a very friendly look with the curved front tubes, like a ship's bow. I also love the idea of the height-adjustable handlebar bridge and the Bogbi's general compactness and maneuverability. I wonder how the Bogbi compares to other compact cargo bikes like the Yoonit or Muli. It looks bigger and more massive than them, but I wonder if it actually also is longer.

So my TV detective character would be driving a #Citroën #CX #Hearse (or a Break outfitted as auxiliary hearse, i.e. just with coffin rails and an elongated/convex tailgate) which needs to visit the garage a bit too often. (The latter being the impractical part. And maybe the coffin rails, too.)
