I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA and I occasionally make things and post stuff online. Blogging since 1997 and can't seem to stop. Please enjoy these wonderful links to other places:

The shootings in Milwaukee never seem to stop.

Really? I live in Milwaukee and have yet to witness one or be involved in one... so they can't be going on all the time. I agree with the "post less of this type of stuff" sentiment.

We've got six printers at work and when the sheets wear out I use a fine steel wool and scrub them with acetone. It resurfaces them and gets a bit more use out of them before they need replacement.

I've been doing Arduino things for the past dozen years or so, and I was a huge supporter of the Arduino organization, and I still use the Arduino IDE, but I've mostly moved away from their boards in the past five years. I've used a lot of Teensy boards over the years (hundreds, actually) and the occasional UNO, Nano, and Micro, but the Raspberry Pi Pico has been my go-to board in the past few years, and I work in education where the micro:bit seems to really be taking off. It's a shame, because I'd love to see Arduino continue, but not as a closed-source company.

Are the any good at all? I'll probably just stick to my Sennheiser.

GarlicOS failure

I fired up the Anbernic RG35XX this morning and it worked fine for a bit and then started flashing and games would launch and then immediately quit. The whole screen was flashing / blinking. I tried the stock OS on the original SD card and it worked fine. I ended up doing a fresh install of GarlicOS on a new SD card and that was...

I solved my own problem! It seems retroarch.cfg became corrupt. Someone made an "app" that can fix it. You copy it into the APPS folder and launch it using RetroArch to replace the config file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xZ5e8vxk9cvtQzuA2PG9kgX87IEBSEMY/view

Nope. I've gone past it hundreds of times, but I generally don't go to many bars.

I’ve got an RG35XX and I don’t think I hold it any closer to my eyeballs than I do my mobile phone.

Well, he's got to keep up his "lying shitbag" reputation.

It definitely needs a way to filter/sort things. As it is now, it's pretty much useless as it's just a firehose of notifications.

rasterweb,

Ahhh, under Notifications I turned these two off:

  • New threads (links or articles) in any magazine to which I'm subscribed
  • New posts in any magazine to which I'm subscribed

Which certainly helped, but I still thing there should be some filtering and more info directly on the notifications page.

I recently got a (refurb) SE (2nd gen) and I'm really enjoying it. I'm sure I'll replace it in a few years like every other product that doesn't really have an easy way to replace the battery or otherwise becomes outdated when the company stops releasing updates to support it.

Would You Try New Pastimes If Star Trek Level Medical Care Was Available?

Star Trek’s level of medical care is far more advanced than today’s. As Beckett says in LD, “Doc will wave a light over it.” Yet, in Star Trek people aren’t shown doing hobbies and pastimes that are much different from what’s done now. Still, I wonder about differences in a society where people know they won’t be...

I think it's the pain of receiving high medical bills which keeps me (and most other US citizens) from doing fun/silly/stupid/risky things...

The Milwaukee Air and Water Show is this next weekend. Who's going? (mkeairwatershow.com)

The Milwaukee Air & Water Show, presented by Waterstone Bank, continues to be Wisconsin’s premier free, family event of the summer and one of the top air shows in the Midwest. As a non-profit, 501c3 organization, we support the local economy, our Armed Services community, and bring visitors to Milwaukee to experience the best...

I will not attend. I don't care for the noise, crowds, or show of military equipment.

I have friends that go, and the EAA seems quite different! But sadly, I'll be traveling that week.

I can imagine a lot more cuts to the police department...

So I'm thinking this PICO-8 community could use a list of resources. I'm pretty sure I've seen an "awesome" list as well as a list of links on (ahem) another link aggregator site... If no one else compiles one, I may end up doing it.

Yes, I got a book from the ACLU (as a gift for donating) and someone ripped open the package (which they left) and absconded with the book! I hope they read it and learned something useful. :)

I got an Anbernic RG35XX just so I could play Tetris with a Game Boy like experience.

rasterweb,

I got the gray RG35XX because it reminded me of the Game Boy I used to play.

My tracker is really just a reminder and motivator for me to get moving and not be so sedentary. I'm fine with that.
