Jeśli lubiliście "Trylogię Husycką", to tutaj też się odnajdziecie, bo choć tereny inne (Niemcy zamiast Śląska), to klimat i czasy podobne (reformacja, inkwizycja), a także trochę magii i humoru (aczkolwiek tego ostatniego mniej niż u Sapkowskiego). Zaskakująco kameralna książka jak na możliwości, które autorowi dał rys historyczny, ale może też dlatego czyta się to dobrze, choć lepiej pod koniec niż na początku. Warto sprawdzić.

Hey, Mastodon, I'm halfway through book four of Libba Bray's 'Diviners' quartet, and it is really good! Just super-solid, well-plotted, well-paced 1920s magical flappers who have to save the world from ghosts. The ensemble cast is effortlessly diverse, and the mood does a brilliant job of capturing that breathless optimism of 1920s America without losing sight of all the darkness lurking underneath it all. A tiny bit purple at times, but super-good.
Książka fantasy jak najbardziej godna z polecenia, z dobrymi zwrotami akcji, a przede wszystkim umiejętnym wytłumaczeniem pochodzenia magii oraz scenami przemocy, które rzeczywiście przez styl opisu budzą w człowieku pewne emocje. Natomiast to pierwszy tom, który wyraźnie zawiesza wiele wątków z myślą "no weź, przecież i tak kupisz drugą część". Może i kupię, ale zmuszony być do tego nie lubię.

This week's Sapphic Book Bingo post features sapphic speculative fiction, which is a broad and diverse category, so I included 20 instead of 15 recommended books.
Most of them are sapphic paranormal romances, fantasy, or romantasy novels, but there are also some sci-fi romances, dark fantasy, and horror in the mix.
Stanowski już zrobił swoją orkę, wiec przyszła pora na mnie, choć tak naprawdę ta ksią... to opowiadanie nie zasługuje na orkę. Jest po prostu rozczarowaniem ze względu na kierunek fabularny oraz wydanie. Stylistycznie i klimatycznie trzyma poziom pierwszej części i mam nadzieję, że pełnoprawny drugi tom (jeśli powstanie) będzie bliższy pierwszemu niż... tego.

Today, again, I reread the very short #fantasy story my spouse @leonardr wrote https://www.crummy.com/2022/12/16/0 after I asked him to write a sweet story about a robot oven.
@brainwane@leonardr after watching the video and seeing that it's the oven that moves (not the baguette), it made me happy to imagine the oven from the story stumping along slowly on its three legs! (They don't have a 140m long table so all the kids in the village are recruited to hold up the baguette, with oven mitts of course)

I’m a story gardener cultivating blossoms into insights on culture, explorer-writer intertwining ancient wisdom and modern curiosities all gleaned from my real garden!!! My only problem is after 17 years of writing like this I’m still better at research than fantasy, and have settled now into creative realism. One of these days they’ll metamorph into irresistible fantasy magical realism at very least 😂

For Freya, it's pumpkin soup. Home is where a giant bubbling cauldron of soup is available throughout the day.
She loves the pumpkin soup because they grow all ingredients in the garden themselves. After a summer of tending the plants together, cooking them up feels meaningful and unifying. To Freya, a good soup feels akin to a warm embrace from the inside out.
