I re-read Cecelia Ahern’s novels often because I love how she writes magical realism. She’s been my favourite since I first read ‘If You Could See Me Now’ when I was fourteen! I also re-read (and re-watch!) ‘The Princess Bride’ quite often because it never fails to make me laugh. ~ Hayley-Jenifer, author of Kingdom of the Moon

@oarditi@bookstodon Even though I have it I have not read that yet, but have read some later ones, Broken Earth trilogy, and the Great Cities duology. Sigh, one of these days.
The day when you take the achievement snatched from many year's of precious spare time moments, put on a cover & upload it to bookstores.
I'm there with epic #fantasy book 3/3 in my debut trilogy, and sad to let these beautiful, #queer, #neurodiverse characters and the found family they made go.
With this book, I pushed my ability to plot a complex, multi-civilisation conflict to its limits.
I loved every bit of it. I hope some of you do too.

Urocza książka, typowa młodzieżówka "guilty pleasure", którą czyta się z bananem na twarzy i wierzy, że wszystko skończy się dobrze. W tym ta lektura jest znakomita - nie oczekujcie po niej ambicji, niespodziewanych zwrotów akcji itd. Raczej dajcie się ponieść urokliwości historii i efektowi "aaaaaaaw". Mnie się podobało, ale jestem dużym dzieckiem.

I'm thinking about the recent romantasy turn in fantasy/romance novels and how the Cantata books may have fit, say, 10 years ago. But in that time I grew old and then decided I didn't want to force spiciness onto my novels and removed most of it.
I still think one of the spiciest scenes is when they are reading books together and...not a single piece of clothing was discarded. 😉
Slow burn indeed. Mind you, I enjoy reading #romantasy every now and again. I'm just not sure I'm the right person to be writing it. Spiciness is just too much work and I'd rather be focusing on other things!
There's a fair bit of romance in Cantata of the Fourfold Realms but most of it is low-key and organically building up.
Pieces that only exist once in the world.
My beloved fairy necklace with earrings went to a client in Hollywood. Paper yarn in fairy green with Japanese glass art. Elaborately handmade. For people who dare.
I still make them today in several colours, but each one is unique. Why did I never made one for me?! 🤔
@Tim_Eagon I had this game back in the eighties and it's always stuck with me. Probably because it was just a text adventure which as a very young boy, I found disappointing at the time.
I think a larger version of the art was used for a band album sleeve as well.

On a passé un bon moment avec la première moitié de la série Ronya fille de brigand ! De la #fantasy avec une intrigue locale, des enjeux réduits, des paysages naturels nordiques que j'adore, et des acteurs fort sympathiques. Ça change un peu.
Ptites congés là, au cours desquelles je suis censé aider au potager.
Mais je vais essayer de récupérer un peu pour traiter les commentaires de beta-lecteurs, au moins placer dans le corps du texte les to do, parce qu'il y en a beaucoup #LaCompagnieDeLaHure#mastolivre#fantasy

They lack the intellect to serve their betters unless forced. Showing them kindness is nothing but a weakness parading around as a virtue. Each of them screams out for subjugation. The genuine cruelty is leaving these wretched souls stumbling around in the dark with no light to follow. And yes, this includes humanity. Aimless beast with half a brain cell and the arrogance to think themselves equal to me.

One of the things we did "back in the day" (say early 2000's) was have author groups where maybe 5-10 authors were in a group, we had a website, a newsletter, I guess now there'd be social media presence, and we each agreed to promote the group in each others' newsletters .... I suppose that's out of fashion, but just thinking I'd love to get more 👀 on my books.
@Nichelle@bookstodon I was on bookfunnel a few years ago. Money is an issue at the moment so I can't afford the $15/mo. I lost all my book income, etc. by switching pen names and dealing with "the Burnout"(TM).
I wanna point out that Alternative Armies has a lot of old #fantasy#miniatures from the 80s in their catalogue, and a lot of them look fucking fantastic.
@kyonshi I've been buying from Gavin for almost 15 years now and he's a joy to work with. The sculpts are great and the customer service is just as fantastic. Highly recommend!
